Hi ladies

Having a blood transfusion 2moro how many bags do you have and how long does it take and how long before you see any benefit . Well that was a lot of hows lol xx

Hi there

I had a transfusion about a month ago...2 bags which took a total of four hours...really boring...as Sandra said ...take a book!!

Did feel a bit perkier the week after

Thank you bab struggling doing anything for 10 mins at a time . Was thinking about you and Nancy 2day I hope shes doing ok not been on the board much miss you both posting xx take care

I had one unit of red blood cells a couple of weeks ago. Since it was the first time it took almost 3 hours. I started to feel better after 3 to 4 days.

It's a good thing, you'll feel better soon.

I’ve had several. I usually just rested. While I don’t like looking at the bags of blood, it’s easy. I always felt better pretty quickly.

It depends on how low your hemoglobin is. 1-2 is the norm. They are usually infused over a 2 hour period each but each bag has to be finished within 4 hours. At work

I usually start it very flow too watch for a reaction then increase rate to infuse in 2 hours

It's been 54 years since I had a transfusion and I bet they do it somewhat differently today! LOL It did make me feel better. I started thinking about that day as soon as I saw Blood Transfusion as the title of your post. I hope yours will feel quite routine and not be something that sticks in your mind for decades!!
