Xeloda and Denosumab. Problems with tummy and fever.

Had my first two weeks of Xeloda, all fine. On last day got my monthly Denosumab injection.Within hours I felt really ill and had a fever. Slept all the next day and night. Since then I have had tummy pains and mixture of constipation and runny tummy. No energy and have not been out since Wed. I normally do a big walk every day. Any ideas? On internet says these drugs should not be given together. Seeing my oncologist Tuesday for regular appt.

I don’t have any answers for you. It could be just coincidence and you have some kind of flu or it could be from the medication. But if you continue to feel bad or run a temp, you do need to be seen. It’s good you have an appointment on Tuesday but if you still have the temp and symptoms on Monday I’d call the clinic office. They might not want you sitting around in the waiting room and might make other arrangements. I hope you get to feeling better this weekend and have to do none of these things! Just rest and drink lots of water. Elaine

Thanks. Temp gone but still don’t feel great. I see my oncologist privately at night so it is usually just me and my husband and no other people, not like the hospital I started at which had about 80 people waiting to see whichever oncologist was free next.

XGeva didn’t like me either. My Onc said that there was no information about it being taken with my Perjeta. I switched back to Zometa. He said we could try it again sometime but take it on a different day than my other meds. That may be a suggestion for u. Or just go with the Zometa. 😀

Thanks for the info. I have been on Denosumab for over a year now with no problems until I started Xeloda. So glad you are doing well.

Thanks Sandra I will. My husband has the same birth sign. He is like you kind and caring.

Hi Sandra, saw my oncologist and he is changing the schedule for my Denosumab so I don’t have any Xeloda in my system. He said none of his patients have had a problem with Xeloda and Denosumab before.

I have been on. 3 cycles of Xeloda and just had my first Xgeva infusion. After a couple days I have pain and weakness down my femur so I can hardly walk! I had had rads to avoid a femur break (bone mets there and elsewhere) but this pain is new! Like you, I never know what causes which side effects. Hope you are feeling better!
