My experience with Zometa is the same as Sandra’s, except I didn’t have the first month flu symptoms. It’s just an extra hour at the end of my appointment every third month.

My experience is the same. I have another oncologist who gives me the more alternative drugs like cbd oil and metformin. He also(along with my regular oncologist) things its the best as it also fights the cancer cells.

What do you take Metformin for?

I also take statins. Apparently all helps to kill cancer cells. There is a book call how to kill cancer, she talks all about it. So far so good.

I opted for zometa over xgeva because of my fear of needles. I can do an IV more easily than an injection. I really haven't had any side effects at all from the zometa. Good luck!

And Xgeva is an easy peasy shot!

I get an Xgeva shot every 3 months. Dx MBC April 2019. November 2019 CT/PET scan showed the one bone met in my left pelvic bone was NED and the bone has grown almost completely back. Also on IBrance & Faslodex. Xgeva shot is simple and painless. My onc says Xgeva is equally effective every 3mos vs. every month. It certainly has been for me. All the best!

Perfect. If I had to pay cash for Xgeva, I would rethink the whole thing!

I also take Zometa, but had to get off of it when I had teeth work done (an extraction and a root canal). Apparently, it can effect your teeth healing process. I was off it for 5 months and was worried about that, but my onc said it stays in your body for 11 months vs Xgeva for 3 mos.

The first question my onco asked me once I was going to have to get the Xgeva injection, besides my falsodex injections, was if I needed any dental work done. She said before I put you on it, make sure that you do not need any dental work done bc once on it, it can cause issues with the teeth. Luckily, I had everything done that I already needed so I started it right away. My onco makes me get it every month, like I do with the falsodex. She also suggested I started taking calcium supplements to strengthen my bones since two holes were found in my spine (my mets is to the lungs.)
