Oh, gosh, Winniethepooh, I'm so sorry for what you're going through. So, so stressful...

Are you saying that you're now triple negative? From what I understand, immunotherapy is an option for that and I just read a post from someone who's having good success with that. I'll mention that my sister has been living with triple negative metastatic BC for 5 years...takes no treatment, after the chemo they did at the beginning. It's obviously all so individual, but I'll highlight that the lifestyle things she does include "running" (like fast walking) about 10 hours per week, pescatarian (only locally caught fish), and she basically does intermittent fasting. I'm not suggesting that these things are cure alls - or even backed by tons of science - but there's a bit of science and maybe you can make some changes that might tip the scales in your favor?

I wish you well...Lynn

I would get another opinion from a large cancer hospital. There are new treatments and clinical trials that you may be a candidate for. Best of luck and keep fighting.

The big cancer centers have the latest treatments, news and pipelines and have a big concern with the efficacy of the drugs. It is good if one is close enough that you can go at least once a year. You can take your treatment locally under their direction. I also feel that they have better equipment unless you are in a large town . Unfortunately, it's not a realistic possibly for everyone.

I wish you the best. Blessings Hannah

Hi Winnie,

I agree with what the other ladies have said. Do not give up! I would get a second and maybe even a third opinion from another doctor. I have also heard good things about immunotherapy. I would look into that, including clinical trials in your area, and perhaps find an integrative doctor to see what he or she may recommend. There are other metastatic cancer patients who were told they did not have long left to live (Jane McLelland, Joe Tippens, Judy Perkins, Kris Carr, to name a few) but who beat the odds and are all still alive today, some decades after being given a grim prognosis. You might want to research what these people did and see if there is anything in their protocols that might resonate with you. Some of these patients appear to have been cured, while some still have cancer, but have remained stable. Kris Carr is one such example. She has been living with stable metastatic disease for nearly 17 years.

I wish you all the very best,

Sophie

I needed to read that about Kris Carr, who had stabilitization for 17 years..gave me hope to hold on to..

I'm so glad that Kris Carr's example gives you hope. That's how I feel too. She was 31 when she was diagnosed with metastatic cancer, but has been able to turn things around. She still has cancer, but she has taken lots of positive steps to improve her life and outcome.

Take care,

Sophie ❤

Did he say what type of mutation and are there any drugs that will directly attack that mutation? Even if you go on chemo, there may be something coming up in a clinical trial. Definitely need a second opinion at a large cancer center.

Contact Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. Dr. Sarat Chandlerlapatty (not sure of spelling) is working on Triple Negative MBC treatments. Please mention my name when you contact them. They will know who I am. They will work with your medical facility on a treatment plan. I turned to them when I was diagnosed and when we needed to change the plan.

Don’t wait. Let me know what they say.

Your doctor needs to order a ‘liquid biopsy’ its very new it can definitely tell you exactly what type of cancer and genome you have but also tell you what clinical trials are available based on your disease.

Don’t believe its the end of the road but RUN and get a second opinion! No one should be told they are out of options!

Keep us posted and all the best!

I can only reiterate what is said below. RUN and get a second opinion. Go to a cancer speciality hospital and check out the suggestions below. Hope you have some support close by. If you are alone, you have come to the right place but you need an advocate. Someone who has your back, beside you. Someone like you with a "moniker" like Winnie the pooh, can make it!

Cheers, June S.

Dont give up! Start with changing your diet while you are looking for 2nd opinion. A guy from LinkedIn give me an information about a non profit company that will take you to any part of USA to get the best doctor and treatment. I can give you the information if you needed. I never look into that bc my cancer is stable for now.

I recently watch a youtube video called "What Exactly Would You Do if you Found Out You had Cancer?" It is a televised conference put on by the Hippocrates Company. The doctors and specialists on the panel each present their own feelings about what they would do if they received such a serious diagnosis. Their views are very interesting. There is also a book called "Radical Remission" that encourages all of us with cancer to think positively. Every cell in our body knows what we are thinking - so positive thought are believed to be helpful and even can reverse disease. I wish you all the best in your journey. Marlene

Thank you for sharing this. Positivity does change things. It can be hard to remember this when things get tough! Thank you for the reminder.
