Update on treatment after rough chemo

Just starting 3rd month of Kisqali and Extemastane So far good , no side effects that I notice. The best part is I am not having any fatigue. I don't have the energy I used to but I am 74. I just had an empty apartment and painted three rooms plus blinds and windows. Then painted my living room and blind and window. Had new floors put in three rooms( big job emptying). I could not have done any of this while on chemo. Pretty much in chair sick all day.

So I am pretty happy with this regimen so far. Hope it keeps up. My lower legs do hurt but I think that is my arthritis..

Things I have to watch for is change in heart rhythm, will see new cardiologist on Monday. Will mention lower leg pain in case it is arteries.

Just hope this works for a long time, will have tumor markers done end of month.

Oh chemo caused cataracts to speed up. Surgery November.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Thank you. It has been a long time since I felt good.

I too am hoping my markers go down and I can stay on this awhile.

Oncologist said my mutations are not a match for the new cancer med called Piquay that just came out.

She said she would put my mutations in system and it will show if there are any clinical trials or other meds that we can use when this stops working.

Never heard of them using our mutations. Do you think this is something new?

Thank you for thinking of me.

Barbara

You say you don't have the energy you used to but just painted 3 rooms plus blinds and windows?!! I bow to your energy!

So glad to hear from you ...that’s great the new meds are working and not causing fatigue.

They tested me for mutations at diagnosis before I began taking Ibrance/Letrozole ...doing well so far... scans in a few months.

I wish I had your energy! I’m wiped out by 5:00. Good luck with the cataract surgery... Doc says mine are not bad enough but possibly by Spring... just don’t see well at night anymore.

Mine started at night, then everything blurry. Now I just can't wait for the surgery.

Yes it feels good not to feel so tired all the time. Don't get me wrong I do need to sit when my back hurts or legs. But I don't feel like I could go to sleep all the time. I just hope it stays this way and lowers my markers.

So very happy for you, long may it last. I am on week 19 of 24 of Taxol. Was doing great until oncologist added Avastin into mix. That has now been stopped. The constant pains and runny tummy mean I am now lucky if I even manage to get out for a walk. Can’t wait for beginning of Dec for a break before next treatment. Scans in a couple of weeks. Will mention your treatment to oncologist, so thanks for the info.

Enjoy! X

So sorry you are having a rough time.

I did good on Taxol for a long time and then the side effects stated getting bad, so we had to stop.

But my new meds seem good so far. No fatigue which is the best part. Now my neuropathy in my feet are starting to feel better. I hope this continues.🙏

Jersey girl! So nice to hear an update from you. I am a Jersey girl too - living more North near the city so I always watched your posts. Your renovations are inspiring! I should do a bit of decluttering around here....Faith

Thank you. I have wanted to take up the carpet on my main floor do to my old dog having bathroom issues. I was so sick all year on chemo, that as soon as I felt better my kids all came over and tore up all carpet. So I felt good enough to paint. Then the floor man put in beautiful gray waterproof laminate flooring and all new baseboard. I am so happy now as I sit and look at it. I painted walls a light gray it looks so big.

Funny that things like this make me happy since I sit a lot now.

I am glad you are done with chemo also. It was rough, but if I have to do again I will have no choice.

The extemastane And Kisqali is working well so far. No fatigue is the best. I will have markers done next week, hope they are going downThe side effects of Kisqali is change in heart rhythm, I will see cardiologist on Monday.

My hair is coming in, little more than an inch so far. Still wearing wigs. But after all my worry that is a small part. Easy to put on and look good every day.

Hope you continue to do well on your treatment. I will check with you.

Hi Barbara...last month I started my second treatment. It is a trial. I am on faslodex and Kisqali. Ibrance and Letrozole stopped working after 7 months. I had an EKG before I started in October and had another EKG this week. Were you told see a cardiologist? I know Kisqali can cause an irregular heartbeat. This main side affect is scary! My next appt is in a couple weeks. I am going to ask how often does my heart need to be checked .

How are you doing so far? Are your neutrophils low? I’m almost done with the first cycle. I feel a bit nauseous at times and have a low appetite. I must say for now I do not feel as fatigue as I did on Ibrance/Letrozole. This combo was really kicking my butt! Please keep us posted on your journey. I will do the same.

Best regards, Maria ( btw I’m a NYC girl).

Hi Maria I just started my third month on Kisqali and extemastane. I also do not feel tired like I did on Ibrance and Letrozole. I was on them for about 16 mo and they stopped working. My oncologist did an ekg before I started Kisqali and I did see a cardiologist on mon this week. He did an ekg and said it was a little better that the one two months ago. My ekgs have a blip in them for years now nothing serious but he laughed and said well this blip looks improved come back on 6 months. But we know my oncologist will send me for ekgs to check. I hope I get to stay on this awhile since I have no bad side effects so far. In fact the neuropathy in my feet is feeling much better.

I hope it works well for you also. I will have tumor markers done at next visit I hope they are going down.

Taxol side effects were rough.

Well hope you do well I will check with you again.

Thank you
