Hi ladies

Now the wedding is over I’ve decided to take the membendazole for a month to see how I cope then perhaps add Metformin...these are the COC drugs I was prescribed in July...not too thrilled about statins or doxycycline yet

Totally confused really...I’ve informed COC

Praying for you Barb! Please let us know how it goes.

Hugs!

May I ask what these two meds do in regards to cancer treatment? I thought Metformin was for diabetes.

Yes they’re not prescribed for cancer so are off label drugs...studies have shown they can help arrest tumour growth

Google care oncology clinic and there’s info in there

Thanks

Hi Barb,

I wish you well as you start back up with the COC drugs. Remember that doxycycline and mebendazole are alternated each month, so you don't take them both at the same time. Also, when you start the metformin you tend to start off at a lower dose and then increase it. You might feel a bit nauseous, so I would have snacks on hand and drink lots of water.

Yes I’ve kept all the information...I’m not happy taking doxycycline though but will ponder...it’s just that I’m prone to utis and don’t want to mess up my gut flora either

I’m awaiting a reply from COC

Hi Barb,

I can certainly understand your concerns and see why you are hesitant to start taking doxycycline. I have heard that UTIs are quite painful. I take a daily probiotic to help avoid any issues like that and to take care of my gut. Raw sauerkraut, organic kimchi and kombucha are good sources, so I don't have to pop another pill. My sister-in-law got me into kombucha when she came to visit three years ago. So now I drink 200ml each day, or have some sauerkraut or kimchi. I haven't had any issues from taking the doxycycline, so hopefully taking a probiotic has helped with that. If you are not keen on one or two of these, hopefully there is still one that you like that you can eat or drink.

I do take probiotics every day...however as a health professional I’m reluctant to take the doxycycline...just goes against everything I was taught

OK. We must all make our own choices.

Oh I’d never substitute those for my traditional meds...they’ll only ever be additional....clutching at straws maybe...who knows

I suppose you will never know if you don’t try ! ...but come off if they make you ill.

Enjoy the last of the fabulous warm weather we’re getting !

I will be sitting out in shorts and scarf ... just got my temp back to normal today after a couple days of a nasty virus ... just have a throat thing now... so lots of honey and 🍋 hot drinks ! x

Hi Barb so glad to hear the wedding went well. I have been on COC since mid July. I am not going to lie I have felt pretty crap but yet again not sure how much is the Afinitor and how much if COC... I have lost a stone and feel pretty rotten most days ... I have had to adapt my working pattern and now works from home 2 days a week. As the date where I will have to fork out another £300 gets closer I am keeping all my options opened... I have the results of my 3 monthly PET next Wednesday , if results is bad and shows progression I am not sure I will stick with COC...

Hi Marie

It’s impossible to determine which drugs make us feel rubbish but I was doing well and feeling pretty ok on Ibrance letrazole onboard before the radiotherapy...the fact that I started COC drugs the week after made it hard to know which was causing the fatigue and nausea but I don’t think it was my Ibrance or letrazole...anyway I’m not wanting to feel like that again hence the slow introduction of their drugs so I can tell which was causing the symptoms

Quality of life must come first imo

I’ll be interested to know what your scan shows

Love barb
