Stress is it mimicking early signs of ascites coming back?

My living situation has suddenly become very stressful and I have no money to move at this moment. I am wondering if stress can mimic early signs of my ascites coming back or can actually make my return? Any thoughts?

Oops make you cancer return.

Hi Becca,

I'm sorry to hear that your personal situation at home is stressful at this time. While I can't comment on ascites and how cancer operates, I do believe that stress is bad for everyone, but especially for us. Can you maybe try to address some of the stress you are feeling to try and create a calmer environment and step back from situations that are having a negative impact on you?

Take care,

Sophie

Personally I think stress can have an effect on your immune system which then allows all sorts of things to go wrong. Its so difficult especially if you're going through challenging times but it's important to try to bring stress levels down if you can. I was recently steered towards healing/sleep meditation on You Tube which Im finding helps and also Reiki, but that can be a bit pricey. Definitely try the You Tube ones if you can. Hope tis helps. Best wishes. X

I don't think stress can be an actual cause for progression of the disease but can weaken your immune system and generally suck. Agree with the reiki suggestion check out holy fire reiki on you tube. Check out nutritionfacts.org for nutrition information. Hope things get better, sorry your in this situation.

I believe lowering our stress level is very important. There are free meditations online and maybe you might talk to a social worker at your cancer center for stress relieving activities offered at your center. They may also be able to refer you to financial help to get out of your situation.

Cancer Care has many programs covering all areas that cancer patients may need help with.

I don't know where you live but if you Google them you will see all their benefits around the United States.

They will also offer one on one phone sessions for six sessions free!
