Hello. This is my first time writing on this. I was diagnosed with Nuevo Metastatic Breast Cancer in September 2018. I have bone Mets on my spine. I am on ibrance and letrozole. As you all can relate, this has been very overwhelming. I am curious if all of you have changed your diet and if you are taking any additional supplements along with your medications. I have asked my doctor on some of them but because most of them are not FDA approved, she can not support the idea of taking them. Thank you.

Diet changes and supplements
Hi there
I take Vit c 2000 with an iron supplement folic acid and B12.. as my haemaglobin is low due to Ibrance
I also take cod liver oil and glucosamine..for bone pain...turmeric paste which I make myself...my oncologist has approved these
Always be aware that some supplements can interfere with tumour markers..I found this out when I was taking biotin for my nails and hair!!
I now have hair extensions and gel nails
I bought a juicer and do veg in that
Although this is nothing to do with your question..I recently bought an infrared portable sauna which is supposed to help with pain from bone mets..early days as not had it long
All the best

Hello,
Welcome to this site. Sorry you have to be here, but you will find a lot of support and encouragement.
I made a lot of changes to my diet. One thing I did was cut out soya and soya products (easier said than done. Soya isn't just in the obvious places such as Teriyaki sauce and soy sauce. It's also in most chocolate products, bread, cakes, biscuits, and so on), I also eat a lot less sugar, make my own confectionery if I fancy something sweet, and cook more from scratch. I love green juices and smoothies, so try to consume them each week. I try to eat or drink something fermented each day (sauerkraut, kimchi or kombucha) and I continue to eat lots of fruit and vegetables.
As well as taking my conventional medications: Zoladex, Zometa and Letrozole, I also take four Adcal D3 each day (recommended by my oncologist and prescribed by my local pharmacy), Montmorency cherry capsules (they contain melatonin and are a natural anti-inflammatory), and vegan omega 3 capsules (in place of cod liver oil, as I don't eat seafood). If you want to add any supplements or make any changes to your diet I would suggest you speak to your oncologist, oncology nurses, GP, pharmacist, a dietitian or naturopath. I consult all of these people before I implement anything new into my life. Some are not so clued up on certain things, so then I go to the next person who may be more knowledgeable.
I wish you all the best.

I have MBC taking Ibrance and letrozole since July 2018. My latest scan in October showed 60% of lungs mets shrunk, no longer present in liver and great improvement of bone mets in my spine. The backbone pain only improves starting November 2018 and gradually went away. I am sharing these info so that you can atleast expect these improvements at your end since we both take similar meds. It’s good to cut down on sugar, and I bought a machine to make our water source alkaline up to pH 9.5. I replaced all my cooking pots to stainless steel just to minimize carcinogenic sources. I take Vit C daily and often make green juice. I take barley tea daily and guyabano tea from air dried guyabano leaves collected by my family back from my tropical country. I am having another CT scan and MRI this coming April 2019 and I am hoping for better results. I wish everyone here a better health and complete healing.
Thank you for all of the information. It is so nice to hear from others that are going through the same nightmare that I am. I feel good and I am not in any pain so to actually comprehend this is tough. I also want to enjoy each and every day knowing that this can change at anytime. I am trying to sort out what I should be doing and shouldn’t be doing. Ugh!! Thank you for listening.
Hi Strong2018 This group is wonderful Me too was diagnosed on Sept 2018 with Metastasic in my left hip. I am eating more healthy food and green juice. No supplement (0nly calcium) Have a great day 🌺💕🌸🎀
i was diagnosed w stage IV in Sept 16 with mets to bones and a full liver. In addition to conventional treatment I worked via phone w an integrative oncology specialist out of Colorado. I took an arsenal of recommended supplements from Nov 16 til about 6 mos ago. I absolutely believe these supplements helped me tolerate and fight if not the cancer, for sure the side effects of conventional treatment. I have cut way way back as i am on Line of defense #7 so chemo is getting more difficult. My oncologist was never fully on board with the supplement regimen but he never once told me not to do it. I am not and haven't been afraid to incorporate integrative therapies. Good luck, Go with what feels right for you
I take B12 to see if it helps with energy and blood counts. I use CBD oil for energy also and it has helped with joint pain. My doctor has bit recommended any supplements
Hola,
I have lesions on my spine. I eat much less sugar now, I may eat sugarless candy now and then to help my sugar urge but I don't miss it really. I am soon going to work on eating more plant based things, less meat. I do take some vitamin supplements. They say eating more veggies is a very good thing.
