Stomach and bone mets

Hi, I have stomach mets and I'm taking Ibrance 75mg and letrozole. I have coped fine for a year, just small meals no side effects. Now as I begin to eat it feels like a bubble in my chest which gives me terrible pain front and back, then I can't eat anything else. I have lost weight and now look dreadful. Once I have been to bed it seems to clear overnight and then it starts again about lunch time. It feels like the food stops going through and then I get terrible wind, which is embarrassing. I have spoken to my oncologist and my hospital nurse, but they don't seem to have any answers. I am the only one with stomach mets. Anybody out there with the same thing, I would appreciate some help. Sorry I'm ranting but it is beginning to get me down.

You vent all you want. This is what this forum is for. I don’t know anything about stomach Mets but maybe several tiny meals throughout the day would be easier on your stomach. High protein smoothies or meal replacements might help. Keep at your medical team as they should

be trying to help you get your nourishment

Thanks for the encouragement. I do only eat small bits during the day and I have a high vitamin drink supplied. The problem is that it is very rare to get stomach mets. When I first joined this group there was a lady who had the same, but I haven't seen anything of her since. When I next go up to the hospital I am going to ask them to investigate a bit more as I feel there must be people they can contact for advice. Not much on the web sites. Just my luck to have something different. Good job I have a wonderful supporting husband.

I know how you feel - I am one of at most 10 people in the world with my exact met. Mine is not to the stomach but to the peritonuem. No other mets. Nobody really knows what to do with me. PS Other people who do have must not be online.

I pray your symptoms are alleviated. You may havegerd which can be easily taken care of with pantoprazole.

Has anyone recommended Omeprazole to you to at least try to see if that helps??

I would request a endoscopy/gastroscope to see if there is another reason why this is happening.

You shouldn’t have to suffer like this.

Best to you

I have bone mets, but was struggling with sickness - especially after I’d eaten. Not long started Omeprazole as think it was acid in stomach and it is helping already.

I am taking ranitidine 130mg twice a day. It doesn't feel like acid.

My cancer pharmacist told me not to take Omeprazole with the Ibrance - something to do with them not mixing but seems to be working for some people. They gave me something called Ranitidene which works in a simialar way. xx

Yes I agree. You should see GI dr and have endoscopy done. Your symptoms suggest flow problem and there is a test for that- to see how well food goes through to stomach and if valves are working properly. Ridiculous that you are suffering so much. So sorry but please pursue the issue.

Thanks Sandra, I have another scan in three weeks time and due to go to see my hospital nurse and the encologist. I will stress then that I need something further done. I already take ranitidine 130mg twice a day to control acid. It is sad that I have been quite lucky in having so little side effects from Ibrance and Letrozole until this, hopefully they will find the problem. Will come back when I get any answers. Jenny

Hi Sandra, I actually live in the UK so I don't have to worry about costs. I will ask my oncologist about them. Thanks I'll keep you posted. Jenny
