Just a hello...

Just thought I would introduce myself, my partner has been diagnosed with Secondary BC ER+ Spine / 5 years IDC STG2 ER+ (all detail is on my profile).

I am supporting my wife in any way I can, and some of this means speaking to you nice people and asking questions (maybe answering a few too).

So... yes I am male, and I am not ill, and I am not weird... At least I don't think I am. I just wanted you all to know who I am incase you're wondering why this guy is floating about a BC forum. And yes I know men can get it too but I also appreciate this maybe not be the core demographic of the group.

If you think it would be more suitable for me to follow a different group, please just say so. My views will be a mix of my own and my wife's so that could get confusing :)

So Hi!

Welcome to the group! It’s great for your wife to have a very supportive husband. God knows we all need the support we can get😄Maria

You are not weird :)

Welcome, unfortunately.

I wish your wife a full recovery!

Welcome to both of you :-) reading your profile it sounds as though you have a traumatic time. There are many people following this site who do not have mbc themselves but are supporting loved ones who do. To my mind the discussions here can only help with understanding what those of us who have mbc are dealing with. I sometimes wish my husband would read the threads and then others I am quite glad he doesn't! 😂

Absolutely, it can make for some hard reading but also there are some very motivating and comforting threads too. You can’t hide from this thing so better to understand it and how it make people feel.

I’m amazed by the resilience shown by so many when this disease wreaks havoc. It’s such a cruel and random thing.

It’s been pretty hard going lately but we’re settling into a groove. My wife thinks I’m the strong one. I would beg to differ.

It's a terrible shock to start with but you do eventually settle into a new normal. Life can't go back to how it was before the diagnosis. It's different but it doesn't necessarily have to be worse. Though some days it's harder than others to find the positives, having supportive friends and family and knowing that you aren't facing this alone definitely helps. And that's why this site is so great, lots of people who really understand the issues you are facing.

Welcome! Husbands and helpers are very welcome here. I went back to read your introductory statement. I’m sorry this is happening to you both at a young age. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like.
