🤭Sex???🤭

Hi🌺

It's a bit of a shameful subject. Sex after radiotherapy and chemo for me is very painful. The dryness of the mucous membranes is extreme. I could not solve it with lubricants. Only me ???? Thank you

Hi thereYou perhaps could ask your doctor for some local oestrogen cream or pessaries which can help enormously

Also are you having sex to please someone else?...sorry if this sounds intrusive but a caring partner surely would understand if you don’t want to !

My opinion

It’s maybe different for you if you’re young...I’m 65 and not been remotely interested in sex for many years so I’m perhaps being insensitive to you..don’t mean to be

My husband is wonderful. He understands my situation perfectly and supports me a lot But ... I never thought that this would happen so young ..

Yes when you’re young it’s difficult

Do ask for some topical hormone pessaries or cream..it’s not absorbed into your blood stream so is safe

My oncologist prescribes it

Hi,

I spoke to my oncologist about this as soon as I first experienced vaginal dryness. She mentioned Vagifem, which does contain some oestrogen though. I chose to use a lubricant instead. Another option is Replens. Perhaps you should look into that.

I’ve used vagifem..it also helps if you suffer from urine infections as a result of dryness..which I do unfortunately

I’ve been reassured that it’s safe to use

My oncologist told me the same thing, Barb. I hope it helps with your urine infections.

Thank you.

There is a great lube popular among gay men. We use it. My husband orders it. I will ask and get back to you. It really works.

in reply to

The lube is called Uber lube. It’s available on Amazon. Very light but effective.

Try coconut oil. For you and him

Is the coconut oil for cooks???

Rbeth profile image

Yes. Use organic coconut oil. I keep it by my bed. Good for hand and face lotion

Yes-that would work if it’s 100% solid coconut oil- no additives. Or you can use the product in the sun tan aisle - but again, no additives.

Coconut oil in this form has made the difference for me between “no way” and cuddling up. I keep it in my nightstand in a wide-mouth flat jelly jar for ease of access. It stays solid at room temperature but melts rapidly at body temperature. And no deterrents as it has no taste, very little fragrance, and NO estrogens. (My apologies if some of this was TMI.)

Oil, from any source is not safe or advisable to use internally. Whether it is organic or has no additives is not the determining factor. It is the oil that is not healthy to use internally, our body has no way to absorb it or to break it down. This is why lubricants like Ky jelly or a similar type product are the only products that medically recommended.

I had the same from medical chemo. My doctor did not want to do anything hormonal. She had me look into the Monalisa Touch laser treatments. I had them and they worked!!! I had to pay out of pocket b/c insurance will not pay, but it was worth it for me.

I have read about this, it sounds wonderful! Is it permanent?

You do three treatments and then one treatment every year after.

It wasn't the most comfortable procedure in the world, lol. To be honest, it hurt but not that bad. Worth it for me. :)

You will need a maintenance moisturizer like Replens that you should use every three days, and you will also need lube. Also when having sex, go slow. Lots of foreplay is key. Quickies are out, but you can have a sex life with some work. Sometimes I go down on my husband instead if I am feeling too tender. He has been great about everything. Big hugs to you. There are so many things we are not told about side effects of treatment. I find it maddening.

Ok...here is my down and dirty secret...but it works...a plastic dropper (like that used for infant medication) and Astro Glide lubricant. While he is still somewhat flaccid, use the dropper to insert the Astro Glide, followed immediately by him. No foreplay b/c you don’t want him rock solid. Give it a shot!
