More information here... medicorcancer.com/sef-chemo/

If you have heard of this before or have any information that would be great.

It sounds to good to be true. I have never heard of it. Am going to do more research. Berkley is about an hours flight for me.

There are some negative comments online but I have been emailing him and he seems okay. I’d prefer to speak to him if I think I should do it. As with all these things it’s hard to know who to trust but if he’s had the clinic for 20yrs he must be doing something x

Let me know how you get on, it’s miles away from me so I wouldn’t be able to check it out before I went if I decided it was right for me x

Did you manage to find out anything?

I haven't had time to do any research. Having a busy week at work.

I looked at their site. They promise "SEF . . . side effect free chemotherapy". How l wish that were true and possible and effective!!! Having worked in the medical field all of my life l have to say if something is chemotherapy then it is by definition a poison meant to kill cancer cells and there will be side effects and collateral damage of some degree to healthy cells. There is no medication that does not have some side effect.

I am Sorry :(

Yes you are probably right. I have 2 young children so I’m looking at all alternatives to the NHS protocol x

I am so very sorry you have this devastating disease.

I hope you live and love and raise your children for many years ♥️

Check out nutritionfacts.org it is a trustworthy site for nutrition advice that can build up the immune system, fight cancer and reduce inflammation inside the body.

Let us know how you are doing and if you pursue the Berkeley clinic option. I know of many young people with MBC who are doing well for a long time.

Sending you hugs, good vibes, love and praying for you and your kiddos 🎈🤹‍♂️🤹‍♀️🎈

Absolutely agree! Why are they not finding cures that don’t debase women by taking hair, nails and strength?!?

in reply to Livinthedream

I agree with you! Doctors are prepared to put patients through harsh chemotherapy that robs them of their strength, usual appearance and vitality, yet they question other things we do that are nowhere near as toxic. I asked my GP recently about the possibility of taking aspirin (75mg) per day and she said there is a risk of bleeding in older people, but as I am young that would be less likely to happen. My pharmacist said it's fine to take aspirin, but to not take it with curcumin. I am going to save a lot of the questions I have about supplements and drugs for an integrative doctor I am seeing in May and see what he says.

Sophie

Hi Ellie,

Thanks for sharing the link. If you have done your research and feel happy to proceed then I hope it all works out for you. I have never heard of chemotherapy that does not cause side effects though. I wonder how that is possible, as it is toxic and harsher than hormone therapy and other cancer treatments we receive. Have you looked to see if there is anything similar in the UK so you do not have to travel so far?

I found a doctor in Beverly Hills called Dr Castro who can organise an immunotherapy vaccine to be made and administered in German. (Fly to Germany once a month for 2yrs) I will try to copy and paste from the report I was sent from Helen who I mentioned before.

in reply to Toomanyquestions

That sounds like it might be more doable. I would rather fly to Germany than go to America for treatment. It is too far to have to travel, and you also have to factor in the cost. Medical care is very expensive over there, and you would not be covered by any of the insurances there. Are you triple negative? I know immunotherapy is available to triple negative patients, but I was told it's not yet available for ER+ patients.

I can't see it yet. Maybe it will show up later.

I'm off to work now, but will check back in again later on. Take care x

This was on Facebook: "What makes SEF Chemo so special

The concept of a drug that mitigates the adverse side effects of chemo is not entirely new. There are FDA approved antidotes for many cancer drugs.

Under certain procedures, these can almost completely eliminate the side effects of chemotherapy while maintaining its efficacy. The use of such an antidote allows stronger doses of the cancer-killing medication to be used, with the hope of thoroughly eradicating the evil beast.

With conventional chemotherapy, a much smaller percentage of tumor cells are directly killed, leaving survivlng cells to repair, multiply and spread.

On top of this, conventional chemo destroys important immune cells in the bone marrow called neutrophils. These can no longer seek out and extinguish damaged cancer cells.

SEF Chemo protects neutrophils – meaning the immune system is less damaged -- and thereby amplifies the therapy's effectiveness.

With a much higher kill rate and improved immunity, this "chemo-immunotherapy" causes tumors to shrink in weeks rather than months as in conventional treatment.

The SEF protocol

In a straightforward case, the chemotherapy drug carboplatin is used at the same time as its antidote mesna. The doctor administers carboplatin at 80% of the usual dose, but up to twice as often.

It’s an exaggeration to say the treatment is side-effect-free, but feelings of mild nausea or fatigue are usually gone in three or four days. There may also be some discomfort due to inflammation around the area of the tumor.

In practice, other chemo and non-chemo drugs may be added to allow for a more effective therapy.

The standard schedule is four days of intravenous treatment given on a fortnightly cycle. Carboplatin is infused on one of these days for about three hours. The mesna infusions take five minutes each.

The patient’s progress is assessed after three cycles. Therapy is usually completed in eight to ten weeks, but ten to 15 cycles may be needed for remission of stage 3 or stage 4 cancers.

Often, patients are able to continue working almost full time.

In 2016, a new, more gentle protocol was introduced for patients who have low cell counts and whose bone marrow has already been compromised by traditional chemotherapy." SOURCE: CancerDefeated . com
