how are your extensions holding up? my hair has thinned quite a bit and thought about giving this a try but I was afraid they would fall out.

I have been experiencing dry thinning hair too. I use a volumizing shampoo and only condition occasionally. I bought a shampoo bar yesterday going to try it. I am also getting my hair cut today as I am trying to grow it out from a really short cut from last summer. I am on Ibrance and Faslodex

Yes, now that you mention dry thinning hair I am experiencing the same problem. I am on Ibrance and Letrozole so those drugs could be the problem. I have been trying to deny it but there seems to be hair everywhere lately. Is there any solution to this problem. It is really beginning to worry me. I feel okay on those drugs but might have to ask them to switch me to something else because I want to have hair. I just don't want to go bald. I know this is vane because staying alive is very important but losing all my hair is haunting me. I went through this once before when I took chemotherapy to shrink my original breast tumor and it was pretty hard on me because I always had quite thin hair all my life and always did everything to make my hair look nice. Just don't want to go through it all again. Does anyone have any advice to make me feel okay about this? Help?

I am no longer on ibrance. I never lost my hair just a bit thinner than before. My new treatment is Afinitor and Aromasin and my hair hasn't changed much since. I hope you find something that works. I only wash my hair every other day and I keep it short.

My best to you

Robin

Thank you Robin. Yes, I am having my hair cut on June 23. I can hardly wait. It has been four months and it is now thinner and very straggly. I have to wear it up but that is not good because the elastics also pull out my hair. I ask my husband last night if he would give me castor oil massages on my scalp and he said he would be happy to do that. Castor oil is supposed to stimulate hair growth so I will see if that helps. So every three or four days I will get a massage and then do a heat pack and hope that encourages new growth. I might also ask my Onc if she can lower my Ibrance to 75. It also might help, especially if the Ibrance is causing the hair loss. Hugs and best wishes to you Robin. Marlene

I’ve been using Redken all soft argon-6 oil on my hair after I dampen it in the morning. My hair is naturally curly anyway, so I can’t comment on that. It got very thin and dry. I cut it short because it looked less thin, but it feels like it is getting thicker again. I’m on Letrozol and Ibrance.

Your news about your hair getting thicker again is very encouraging. Hugs Marlene

It definitely stopped falling out! It’s not as thick as it used to be, but not thin enough that my friends notice. I’m hoping the same for you too. Hugs, Elaine

Moroccan oil has been a blessing to me. I use it every day before blow drying my hair. I buy it at Walmart, in the shampoo section.

Hi Bishtown. Does the Moroccan oil prevent the hair from falling out? Or does it just make it look thicker. If it prevents hair loss, I will buy some right away. Thank you. Marlene

Hi viennagirl...sorry if I did not reply to you about the Morroccan oil...life has been extra hectic here lately.

The oil doesn’t make my hair any thicker. When

I started on Ibrance my hair immediately went dry and very brittle. I found that just a few drops of the oil brought it back to life and made it more manageable. For the first year and a half on Ibrance, my hair was falling out fast, but for some reason, since then I am hardly loosing any hair.

It seems to have slowed way down as far as growing though.

Thank you for the information about your hair. It means my hair loss might slow down too - eventually. My hair is growing fast though and has become quite long. I will have it cut next week because I like it shorter and I think it also might help with the hair loss. Hugs Marlene

I might have some of that Moroccan oil knocking around in my cabinet. I think I used it some years ago and then must have given it up. I found yoga helped my hair so I should try to get back to doing it again. I am a very undisciplined person and find it hard to stay with something even if it is good. Part of me never grew up I guess. I love talking to you and all the other dear ladies on this site. It is a blessing and I wish everyone lots of good days ahead and for us with hair problems I wish us lots of thick, shiny hair. Hugs Marlene

My hair is also dry, brittle and thinning! So bad!

My onc says biotin or rogaine might help.

Hi, I bought some B vitamins today. A friend of mine said that B vitamins are good for hair growth. So I will start taking B again. You might consider that too because it is an easy and inexpensive thing to do along with some of the other things that have been suggested. Hugs Marlene

Check out the Curly Girl Method (even if you don't have curly hair) it has helped my hair tremendously prior to starting treatment it was color treated & just dry...now it is manageable & I don't have to pile on products. Menopause does a number on one's hair, but if you treat it kind, it should be kind back.

I found a sample size of Redken Extreme anti snap leave in treatment, which after I use conditioner and then put this in, I have found that last night before we went out, my hair was actually much better! The products says its for distressed hair. I also am trying not to blow dry it completely and air dry. It doesn't do so much for the curling, but somewhat better. Thanks for your advice. Kathy

Yes!! My hair keeps breaking off, lots in the comb everyday, and really thinning! It’s awful! Yet the hair on my legs still comes in furry if I let it 🤪 What the hell! 😉🤦‍♀️

Hi. I am also on Ibrance. I also take Letrozole. My hair is also suffering. I have always had thin hair but it seems drier lately and I think I am losing some of it. It is really long because my hair dresser has been closed but they open in a little over a week. I will ask her if she thinks my hair is thinning. However, not sure what would be the remedy if it is. I am eating a nourishing diet so not sure what else can help. I lately bought some tins of sardines. I am not sure how to eat them to make them appealing but I think they might have some calcium and bones that are good for skin and hair. I also started taking Liposomal Vitamin C lately but don't know if it is going to help. I do eat smoothies also but not every day. There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to stuff myself with good foods. But I am trying to include bone broth, turmeric, garlic, nuts and lots of veggies and fruit. But I am now gaining some weight so I will have to slow down with some of these things. But maybe they will help my hair. I wish you the best and wish I could be more help. Hugs Marlene

My hair has turned poked straight and does what it wants to do, also no shine left...waiting for it to grow a little longer and a beautician see what she can do with it

viennagirl profile image
viennagirl in reply toLcranaudo

A good hairdresser and a good cut might help it. You might also see if your diet helps. I am not really a good source of help for you as I am struggling with dull, lifeless hair and it is thinning. But I will get it cut quite short next week. That might help. Scalp massages with oil might help too. I am trying that too. Hugs Marlene

I have been on Ibrance and Letrozole for 6 years my hair did not get thin but as time passed my hair continued to change texture brittle and extremely dry and I have to wash my hair everyday because my head sweats while I sleep only my head very strange LOL. I wake up looking like Don King so I have to shampoo and blow dry with alot of work to make it look decent. forget about air drying it would just be a frizzy brittle dry mess and kinky curls I always had great hair body,, bounce, shine. I feel like cancer has taken so much from us and I Cancer has taken so much I was determined i was going to find something Finally i found k18 i had used it for awhile my hair looked great!!!then stopped only because the company was having a hard time filling the orders, due to the pandemic. So I had to go without, my hair held up for a while but as timed passed it went back to the brillo pad. Couldnt wait for the delivery of my K18 its expensive but you only use a little each time. when i finally got it I saturated my hair much more than they recommended my hair needed it and I let it sit on my head for two hours than washed it with sulfate free shampoo and then applied the recommended amount to my hair (dime size amount is recommended) hair is great again!!! I highly recommend it .

My hair is the same way. I had thick long hair and it starting falling out bad. Then it slowed down. Now its growing back at the scalp where it fell out and it looks crazy. It's so wavy at the scalp but stick straight at the bottom. I am waiting to get it cut. You are right cancer is an ugly disease and it brings ugliness to our bodies. It's time to stop it in its tracks so it never destroys another beautiful life.

I am on VERZENIO and Tomoxafin and my hair is the worst mess! Brittle and stands straight. Underneath it has curls and can’t be tamed! I use several things but find that I need to at least shampoo and conditioner every other day and press it just to make it presentable! I used Theory shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair. I also use Moroccan oil for styling. I also apply Loma oil after styling! It’s really a workout, to say the least!😱. Hopefully somewhere out there is something I can use. I will order K18. Thanks for your help! God bless us all with His peace! Kathy

Hi to all, Always great to be able to share about these hair issues.

I've always had fine hair.

I've been on Ibrance/Anastrozole/xgeva combo for a year.

Side effects are fine.

My hair was fine for around 3 months and since I loose so much hair when I come it ....

It just breaks my heart.

I had long hair. I had it cut to my shoulders 6 months ago and it's not growing anymore.

I have to have in a ponytail because it just looked so horrible.

My ponytail really looks safe, so thin. I used to do two or three turns with my elastic, now I've got to do 4.

I have been taking spironolactone since January , vitamins E, and fortocapsul since beginning of May. I can't much difference.

I usually have blond streaks done. I last had than done in February. I feel if I go to the hairdresser again she's going to pull out the little hair I've got left.

I must say I just don't know what to do.

I look basically quite good. I've got a slight tane with the nice days. I look healthy. No one knows what I've got and I'm sure no one would ever imagine it. I don't feel more tired than before.

My only by issue is losing all this hair.

I'm 49 and have kids 11 and 13. It's too young to have so little hair.

Well I suppose I should be grateful treatment is working with minimum side effects.

It's just I'd so much happier if my hair would stop falling. I would be really happy if it just stayed like it is now. I've haven't got much but it's enough to kind of look normal.

Your suggestions are welcome.

Have a nice day

Lucie xxx

Yes my hair is the same and curling when I always had straight hair. I started using the hair brush dryer styles and dried all in one also been using conditioner and leave in smoothing conditioner from Amozon I believe it’s R C will have to look for you and get back anyway between that and brush dryer it gets rid of the friz and curl after styling
