Change in Scheduling???

From January of this year, my onc is telling me that I can no longer receive my shots on the same day as I have his appointment. So I have to be there two days in a row. I am in Nevada. Is anybody else experiencing this?

Why?

They claim it's due to not being able to schedule a doctor's appointment and treatment on the same day for legal reasons. I think it's for financial reasons, but am waiting to hear what others are experiencing.

A couple years ago we could not schedule a patients' mammogram and dexa on the same day if they were using Medicare, but that has changed. I would pursue inquiry.

That doesn't sound fair. It is so much easier if you can get everything done on the same day so that you do not have to travel backwards and forwards. I purposely try to book some appointments for the same day for this same reason. It doesn't always work out, but sometimes it does. I hope you can get some answers soon.

Thank you. I'm going to call Medicare next. They're trying to tell me this is nationwide, and clearly it's not.

My oncologist always scheduled everything on the same day. I live out of town and he has never asked me to stay 2 days. I’m on Medicare and have insurance too.

I'm in California and have never had that problem. That is inconvenient. I would definitely ask about it.

Ditto to previous comments...I always have Faslodex or Xgeva shots on the same day I see my oncologist (in Oregon). Let us know if you find out this is a new Medicare policy and we'll help raise a fuss about it!

Thank you for your response. I called Medicare today and they informed me it has nothing to do with them. They're okay with both on the same day. Now I'll start working this hard.

No, I'm Medicare. The office is being obtuse thinking we'll believe anything. I'm pursuing this. There are people who have to take buses to get there who now have to dedicate two days to this foolishness. People who don't feel well that now have to go two days instead of one.

Sister/warrior for some (people/corporations ) this is a money making billion dollar (industry/ business). Every time you make a visit to your doctor, he/she gets paid. If possible you may need to look for another Oncologist, who is not treating you like a business. I pray God will direct you in this situation. I was told it was an insurance requirement. I changed oncologists to one in the same state and that hasn’t happened since. I wasn’t “allowed” to get a port flush on the same day as anything else. I have to fight insurance over a lot of things and I just want to cry when there is one more thing to add to the list.

I don't think it has anything to do with insurance. You mentioned you changed doctors, not insurance and it went away. Hmmmmm.
