Neutrophils low after being off IBrance for third week.

Hi. I am new to this site. I was diagnosed with stage 3 Breast cancer in 2013, had taxol and “gold standard” in chemo as well as radiation. Was going on my fifth year -and found out Dec/2018 it had Mets. To my stomach. I have been on IBrance and Letazole for a year. I do the three weeks on and one week off. I am 2.5 weeks into being off. My Neutrophil level last week when check after first week off was .800, today I went back today and it was even lower at 700. Has anyone had this happen to them ?? And if so what does it mean?

Thank you,

Malyssa

I am always off my Ibrance for three weeks. My neutrophils drop low and I struggle for them to get back to normal. I had one month were they dropped lower the second week off. My oncologist believed it was because I had a UTI. Even a cold virus can mess with your levels.

Yes, mine dropped to .500 the first month and I ended up in the hospital as I caught a virus. I just finished my second round of Ibrance and had labs done and Neutrophil level was .900 so have to be re-tested tomorrow before going back on 100mg of Ibrance. I am wondering now if every month your Neutrophil levels change?

I am worried because the first time I went back to get tested- 10 days after ( my “week” off) my numbers were .800. They told me to come back in five days and when I did the number had actually gone down to .700 and that was after 2 weeks break!

Probably the UTI

Everyone has different side effects and this low neutrophils are low on me too I am on Ibrance 125 mg and Fazlodex for 15 months so after my three weeks I have blood drawn and check my labs usually my neutrophils are 0.500 to 0.700 I get Neupogen two shots one each day then after my 7 days I start Ibrance again so I asked my doctor that why not wait till my neutrophils goes up by itself He said do you want to wait two or three weeks to restart Ibrance again?

in reply toPLASEM

Mine makes me wait three weeks till my levels go back to normal before restarting.

My neutrophil just dropped from .900 to .800 today. My oncologist said I had to wait to start cycle 4 of Ibrance until my count is 1.00. She said .500 is the real problem area so not to worry. I am getting retested on Monday and they may lower my Ibrance dose to 75mg as my white count is not recovering fast enough. I will know more after Monday.

Mine will drop to .300 after one week off and then gradually increase over three weeks off. I have never had a one week break. I have dropped to 100 and it’s the same as it was in 125.

I have been on 125 mg for 8 months and my neutrophil hovers around .2 - .4. By reading on this site and even per the Ibrance protocol, I should take a break. I have a very aggressive Hemotology Oncologist so he is expert in blood and takes my labs weekly. I just had my 2nd pet scan since dx in May 2018 and the cancer has been reduced drastically .. from 20 bones and both lungs, 2 lymph nodes to now in lymph nodes and a few bones. Because of the great results, I asked to go to 100 mg - I have pretty much been quarantined to home all this time (retired the week of my dx). So I am hoping the 100 level will both help my wbc/neutrophil to increase AND continue to kill the cancer cells

I am surprised your oncologist doesn’t make you wait. Mine refuses to let me restart until in is 1.2 or higher.

Since I started Ibrance, I have never been above .5 !! Because he is a hemotology oncologist, he spends additional time in studying every component of the blood. I know this protocol isn’t for everyone and he just agreed to move me down to 100mg, but I have never gotten sick - although I wear I mask when I leave the house. The low neutrophil from Ibrance affects the body differently than if caused from traditional chemo. Also, he will not give me the Neulasta shot to raise the count because the Ibrance will just lower it right back down. I share this because there are differing Ibrance protocols. I would be super excited if I ever hit 1.0 on my neutrophil but since I don’t, I am so thankful that I have a dr who keeps me going by checking labs weekly 🙏🏼♥️

I have weekly bloodwork to monitor my levels but i have to stop my Ibrance for 3 weeks each cycle. I spent as much time off of Ibrance as on it 😞

Ibrance is harsh but the best we have for now ... sometimes I feel like we are all play a bit of the “Guinnea pigs” role in this newer drug. Lots of prayers for you and all of us!! New drugs are coming out all the time 🙏🏼❤️

Hi, you and I are on a similar schedule and my neutrophils were .8 on Thursday. With 3 days left on the first cycle of ibrance, my dr said to finish the 3 days and I go back on Monday for more blood work.

Week 1 and 2 were ok, week 3 is where this got real...I feel like a c patient and just crappy...

How are you feeling today Malyssa?

Hi. I feel better. I have more energy. That must mean that my neutrophils are going back up- I hope!! Thank you for asking! Hmm. I wonder why they had you tested when u had 3 days left on the IBrance , unless they wanted to see how you are tolerating it. I hope you feel better. The end of the third week is always the hardest but try to get some extra rest. ❤️
