Ibrance low nwutrophils

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them.

I am on my second cycle of Ibrance with 1 day left. I am going away for 2 weeks so we did my bloods early so I can have my Ibrance to take with me.

My neutrophils were .7 and wbc can’t remember. After my first cycle they were also low, so I had to take 2 weeks off instead of 1.

The thing is I saw my oncologist after the first cycle and just starting the second just from him feeling it the small lump I had on my breast 13mm has halved in one cycle. He was very encouraging.

When I went today the nurse said I don’t think he will give it to you, but he did! To my delight, as it seems to be working! She had to text him

He said take a week off again then start.

I’m just afraid if they keep going low he will want to stop the treatment, but it’s working!

My oncologist said even when they are low, they are still working.

Sorry for such a long message.

Hi,

When I first started Ibrance 125mg my neutrophils went low so I was told to take two weeks off. They were still low second month. I was put on 100mg and all was fine.

You did not say what dose you are on but I think they may lower it before they stop it.

Great!

Thanks so much for you reply.

Makes me feel better.

It’s just working and I don’t want to stop. I guess for all I know it’s the letrozole that’s working.

I have minimal disease and want to keep IG that way for as long as possible!!

I think the Letrozole works really well. I was on it from November. Too ill start Ibrance until January. Had 3 false starts as it made my bloods too low after a week of each. Had a scan that showed reduction in all places except the liver. Surely it must be the Letrozole. The onc said it was the Ibrance. I’m now on 100mg and half way through my second full cycle. Do they get paid to prescribe it I wonder. I asked about the other one Verzenio and she said the company are so eager to get it prescribed that they would send a nurse to my home to evaluate me. Ibrance makes me feel utterly exhausted. I can’t think. I’ve considered not taking it X

I was on Verzenio for 6 weeks and it was horrible. After over a month off it, my GI is still recovering - and per my Oncologist, out of all the patients he sees, only 2 have been able to handle it.

My first cycle I was tired, but felt much better on my second. If you can take it, it does double the effect of letrozole.

Hello!

I had to wait 3 weeks after my first cycle to start taking it again. Then for the following 3 cycles, I had to wait 2 weeks. Now my body seems to be adjusting. Cycle 5 & 6 have now been fine. I am on 125mg.

Be patient, don’t worry and go enjoy your vacation!!!!

First, my understanding is that you take Ibrance - and I assume you're taking something like letrozole - forever. MBC cannot be cured, it can only be managed. I've been on it for 12 months with significant reduction in tumor size and stable mets. My onc. says you keep taking it until, or if, you become resistant to it. I've reduced from 125 to 100 due to GI issues.

Instead of taking it on a 21/7 schedule, I take it on a 5/2, 5/2, 5/2, 6/1 schedule (with onc. approval). That plus being on a lower dose keeps my neutroprils within the normal range. I have not had to go off the med. for a prolonged period of time due to low blood counts which I had to do the first few months of treatment. Everyone I hang out with has been sick with colds and flu all winter, and so far, I haven't caught anything! Knock wood.

Thank you.

So happy to know there are other ways to take it if your body can’t handle it the 22/7 way.x

My onc put me on 3 weeks on 2 weeks off as my platelets go so low. I am on 100mg after reduction from 125mg. Onc says just as effective at lowered dose!

It seems to be working for us so let's keep at it!

What strength Ibrance are you on? My Oncologist dropped me to 100mg from 125 mg after research came out that the lower dose worked just as well and didnt lower WBC as much. My count came up by .9 within 2 weeks.

I’m currently on 125, but my oncologist kept me on the same dose. Neutrophils were down again staying the third .7. My oncologist kept me on the same dose again but said take a week off. I’m fine going to 100 as I have heard the same.

Thanks for replying!x

I had to drop to 75mg due to low WC. My Dr wanted me to stay on schedule.

Thanks for replying. Who knows what my oncologist is going to do. I’m quite young she seems pretty keen on keeping me on 125.

Mine drop low the week off but always start coming up the first week on. I am on 125 and onc doesn't worry about it anymore. I have been on it two years and in the early days did take extra days off but no more. Blessings, Hannah

Great.

It seems my oncologist is the same.

Taking extra caution but still leaving me at 125.

Thanks Hannah

My neutrophils go very low each cycle. Usually around 0.5. It takes me 2-3 weeks off each cycle for the neutrophils to get to a safe level. I have been taking Ibrance and Letrozole for 1 year. My doc lowered it to 100mg but they still drop. I have had no progression and the lesions on my skull have improved.

Such a relief to hear oncologists don’t give up on Ibrance.

Thank you
