I had anemia (it was so severe that I had a blood transfusion) prior to starting Ibrance and still have it. I just finished my third cycle and go in tomorrow for blood work. For two of my cycles I had to wait a week before starting up again and I’m on the lowest dose.
Would your doctor consider lowering your dose? How are you feeling?
I actually feel ok so was surprised to discover I was anaemic..haemaglobin is around 800 which is low..my oncologist seems to want me on 100 mg Ibrance..it’s early days with me though only taken 1 cycle of the lower dose
I’ve been told to take iron tablets bit B12 and folic acid..so I’m doing that but the haemaglobin dropped again..I’ve started to have some meat in my diet as well
Hello, Barb! Yes, my red blood count has declined slowly but steadily over the past five months. My chart shows a normal RBC of 3.8 to 5.0; and my numbers have gone from 3.37 to 3.07 in that time frame. I'm trying to take folic acid and iron daily in an effort to boost them a bit. My Ibrance was lowered to 100 quite a while ago and I hope that I am able to stay on that dosage. God bless you, Barb! XO Linda
I'm only on my second cycle of ibrance and taking 100 mg now due to low white blood cell count. They never told me what my red bloood count was so I don't even know if it's low. I do recall though that when I had chemo years ago I was able to keep my red count in a good range by having a daily juice with beets included. There are other foods that help with this if you google it. I can't recall the others. Perhaps parsley was another? I would look into that though, esp if you can't take iron.
Yes, have had anemia on Ibrance. My Doc says it's not common, but side effects listings online show it does happen. I got an iron infusion and it's helped some, not completely. The infusion was relatively easy though.
And, I'm on 75 mg. of Ibrance and doing ok, so don't always have to have highest dose.
Yup, I'm off Ibrance for 2 week and going for blood work tomorrow, time will tell but it seems very common on this drug! Hang in there as I intend to do. God bless!
My blood count came up after 2 weeks off 125 mg Ibrance. I am restarting at 100 mg to see if perhaps they can stabilize the white count going forward.. They would rather drop the dosage rather than have to take you on and off. Everything is trial and error; we just need to trust our docs. I have a great group in my Cancer Center and am grateful for them. Just waiting to see what the PET scan says on the 20th. Please pray that it shows progress! God is good! Kathy
