Hi suzesunshine Where in Florida are you? You can visit the marketplace website here to see what plan you're eligible for under via state's health insurance options: healthcare.gov/get-coverage/ Let us know if this helps or if you have any other questions.

i Iive in FL. i have coverage with Florida Blue and receive a tax credit toward the monthly premium due to (low) income per tax return, at this time. i have an "expensive" plan b/c it covers medical costs; the out of pocket 'costs' still outweigh the cost of care.

If you have applied for Disability through Social Security, 2 years after that, you qualify for Medicare. Please note this is NOT Medicaid. If you get a good Plan F with Medicare, it will be far cheaper and better than anything out there. I love it.

I applied for SSD and it will take 2 years for the Medicare. Thank you for the tip.

If you are over 50, I have heard good things about supplemental insurance through AARP. My mother had that along with Medicare, lived in a very red state not known for a good "safety net" and had very good coverage when she had lung cancer. She had extensive chemo and radiation in 1985--that's a long time ago, but I have heard positive AARP insurance stories since then.
