Finished radiation 9/7/21. Skin returning to “normal”. BUT I feel that I still looked deformed & I’ve lost my intimacy..any one else? If so, what did you do & how do I get over the changes of my breast & when will the intimacy return?

I had a lumpectomy in December 2020 and radiation earlier this year, so it is still pretty fresh. At first my husband was hesitant to touch me...didn't want to cause me any pain; however, as the tenderness went away, his attitude and attention helped me get past those feelings of being different. Honestly, he is happy I still have them...and so am I! Be patient with yourself...

Dear one, Give yourself lots of space and time. Pressure and judgement are major libido killers! While your body is healing, you can still find ways to foster intimacy and connection, in ways that don't have to involve intercourse. Start slowly. Without estrogen, I felt like I lost that chemical sex drive, but learned there are ways to rev that engine, to continue to have a fulfilling sex life after a cancer diagnosis. There are soo many pieces, from being rested, to having support and an outlet for emotions, to learning to know and appreciate your body again, remapping your pleasure. I will be hosting more events on "Taking My Sexy Back After Cancer" after the holidays, and would love for you to join. Like/Follow this page here for updates. facebook.com/takingmysexyback
