Hi everyone saw doc yesterday came home with headache. Have to get approval for xeloda treatment. The liquid biopsy needs approval thousands of $ for the test. Then if I have mutation need approval for that treatment. I am going to have to work as school nurse again to keep commercial insurance coverage. And work private care p/t. I will be 66 in January and cannot retire- Medicare does not cover these drugs. This is just a hope to stay alive as long as possible and beat the cancer down. I also have to look into supplemental insurAnces but need to know what drug I will be on to see if it will be covered. This is a lot to handle right now. On the plus side, my body needs rest, still healing with sciatica/physical therapy and still on steroids from ibrance allergic reaction escalating.

Thank you all for being here. ♥️♥️To all of you

Frances

I'm so very sorry that your dealing with all of those challenges seems like way too much for one person.. Sending you prayers.

Thank you Sandra. It’s been too much really lately. I find I am very on edge. I am not even thinking about the cancer- just will I be ok in another drug? The last reaction was step away from anaphylaxis- too scarey. ♥️♥️

Francesca, sometimes there is help out there that we have to dig deep for. One resource I found very helpful was the local office for legal help for the elderly; surprisingly, they knew of financial resources that can help a great deal. If you are being treated in a hospital or large medical group, the financial office may know of resources or can point you in a direction. If there is a somewhat nearby Comprehensive Cancer Institute their financial folks also may help. If you don't own your home, check into the services offered in nearby counties - my county offers far more than the one 2 miles down the road and it may be worth the move. The Medicaid office in my county also knew of resources, and I swear it was the person who chose to help when others just sent me away - an appointment with the supervisor was critical in getting the information. If there is a large religious group such as Catholic Charities, they often have information and help. Networking is another resource - when Gilda's Club was here we shared a lot of information that others did not know about. I also have a couple friends with very expensive diseases who have helped with pointers. It is very daunting and frustrating, and I could only do it in small chunks, but eventually things began to come together. I now live well below the poverty line and my style of living went down the tubes, but am still alive after 5 primary cancers and dozens of out of plan prior authorizations. I hope some of this helps you. You are in my prayers, and please keep us updated.
