That's inexcusable. Call again. Doctors, especially oncologists, have answering services or someone who checks messages. Tell them it's urgent...you don't know whether or not your're starting chemo on Monday. Be firm. Good luck!
Maybe there is a reason for the delay, like test results misplaced or something like that I know how nerve racking all this can be to someone who is suppose to start chemo. There is a good possibility that your next visit to your oncologist will not be in vain and you can get the AOK to begin your treatment. Talking to someone about your experience might help Give a call to your nearest support service organization and get it all off your chest
Did they give you a time for chemo? If so, I'd say you're on. I never got results back from my muga scan.
The doctor told me to wait for her call and not to take the medication either till she called.
Bubba_6, I hope by now your doctor has told you the results of your Muga test and instructed you how to proceed. But your question aroused my sympathy. Inability to reach a doctor is one of the commonest and most frustrating experiences that breast cancer patients endure. It might be a good idea to discuss with your doctor what to do if a similar situation arises in the future. Perhaps she has additional telephone numbers or an email address you can use. Perhaps there is another staff person you can call if you are unable to reach her. In any case, good luck with your future communication--and with your treatment!
I have called my surgeon's office, left msgs, including telling them I have a lot of questions & they never returned my calls! I cannot help but wonder if its like this before surgery & treatment, what is it going to be like after & do I really want a Dr who has no sense of patient care??? Drs like this don't belong in practice, especially when they deal with all the emotions indicative of a breast cancer diagnosis!!
Waiting for something ( lab test, phone call, etc.) is the hardest part. Just promise me that you will be kind to yourself while you are waiting. You deserve it! Take a break and watch a good movie you've wanted to watch. It is not a cure all, but does seem to help me
You can always call where you got the scan. You are the patient and those are your records. You should be able to call or go down there and get a report. They are your medical records. Also, make sure you request copies of diagnosis and test results from doctors, as well as all of your labs. If you have any insurance paperwork or cancer-related paperwork to fill, out regarding staging, type of cancer. etc., it will be in that paperwork. I was assigned a case worker by the insurance company, a nurse, to help navigate care. She suggested this, but also asked me all sorts of questions at first, that were rifled off that I didn't know. Those reports will help answe the questions.
