I have a fear of orgasm and ejaculation, and therefore I practice semen retention. I would like to know if its ok never to ejaculate. I hear it can give you prostate issues?

Is it ok to never ejaculate?
Hi ukdamon. Never heard that retention can cause prostate problems. It would seem that your fear problem would be the issue here that needs addressing. A pleasurable sensation should not create fear unless linked to a bad experience in the past. I would also guess that semen retention in itself would eventually give way to involuntary release or 'wet dreams'. Hope you can sort all this out but the main thing is not to worry about the physical effects - if you do, see a GP and put your mind at rest.
Thank you for your response. I have read lots of myths about prostate issues and prostate cancer if you do not ejaculate so many times a week etc. So I was was a little concerned.
I was abused as a young boy so release for me to too scary. I do enjoy sex, but I do not ejaculate or orgasm.
I guessed there was an element of historical abuse involved. That's tough. I really hope there is a course you can go down and feel comfortable with, that will let you enjoy sex to an ultimate conclusion.
Hopefully, someone with more medical knowledge will post something about the prostate issues. Good luck.
I would say you really need to ask your doctor. I'm 63 years old and have never heard of this. Many guys who have had prostate cancer and other problems would love to be able to ejaculate again. How long have you been doing this and why? What is the fear? The prostate gland produces the semen so I would guess it's not a good thing. Do you masturbate then stop when you're ready to finish?
Thank you for the reassurance
I have always been told it is good for an older man to masturbate to completion. My doc said "USE IT OR LOSE IT!"
Firstly, I'm sorry you've had to deal with the issues you have.
Secondly, I do believe I've read a few things with there being a correlation between less ejaculations and increased risk of prostate cancer but I don't think it is related enough to be statistically significant. The thinking behind it is that since prostatic fluid has high levels of zinc, not turning over that zinc might cause too much accumulation. There are a lot of other factors though such as that people who are ejaculating less often likely have another health issue that is causing them to have difficulty with ejaculation that could cause them also to be at increased cancer risk. Just the opposite is likely for people who ejaculate often. If you are having sex or masturbating often, you most likely are fairly healthy and healthy people are less likely to get cancer than unhealthy people.
I guess what I'm saying is I don't there's a cause and effect factor here so I wouldn't worry about prostate cancer but I'm guessing that this probably isn't the only thing your past and current situation is effecting and if you are avoiding other healthy things or maybe are not as active because of anxiety or fear it's just not a good over thing for anyone. I hope you are able to find some inner peace. Being happy and having less stress is probably the most healthy thing there is.
