Rehab - what to expect?

Hi, I had HA 3 weeks ago and one stent put in. I’ve a 30 min rehab call due next week, but I wanted to know what to expect. I’m assuming this call will be to ask how I’ve been and to set out what form rehab will take?

Hi, did they mention rehab classes ? You should be invited to attend group sessions with other cardiac patients . You should also have a look at your discharge notes , they will have your medication regime and timings ( might have some increases or decreases in your meds over the coming months) plus the contact numbers for your consultant ( usually Secretarys) , will also detail your condition and how it’s been treated. I presume you are in station , beta blocker , thinner etc and will be having blood tests for cholesterol 6 monthly ?

Hi. I had a short chat with them before I left the hospital and if I remember correctly there was mention of doing some sort of sessions with other cardiac patients and a professional to help ensure I don’t overdo it. Are they usually weekly or are they all different depending on the individual? I’m not back at work and hopeful my sick note will be extended when it runs out next week so I can focus on the rehab without work getting in the way. My discharge letter had my meds listed. I’m on about 6 pills with one main one for high cholesterol. Apparently my condition was brought on by a genetic cholesterol issue. It just seems to say all pills for 6 months then aspirin lifelong. I’m sure I was to continue at least some of the others too so it’s maybe the wording as some of it is codes.

Classes are usually weekly for 6-8 weeks, depending on your area and their budget probably. Sounds like you’ll keep a few of the meds , statin , ace , beta blocker , aspirin , usual regime.

👍🏻

Thanks for replying. It’s good taking about it sometimes. So much stuff goes round in your head.
