High Heart Calcium test score
Good morning leach234, are you able to contact your GP or consultant regarding your calcium test score? They would be best placed to explain what this means for you personally. Please keep in mind that a high score doesn’t mean you’re sure to have a heart attack. But it does signal you may need to make some heart-healthy changes to your lifestyle or consider starting a new medication. Please feel free to contact our Patient Services Team on 01789 867 501 or email info@heartrhythmalliance.org if you would like any further advice or support.
Thanks. Had a heart PET scan of my heart and there is no artery blockage. Also had an echocardiogram and no stenosis of valves.
hello. The score scale is 0-300 so 240 is high. Mine was 260. I started to get excruciating chest pains each morning which I thought was a heart attack but after many visits to A&E I was diagnosed with unstable angina. It was believed that the high calcium level caused one or more of my pulmonary arteries to constrict temporarily I was prescribed calcium channel blockers (Zemtard 240mg prolonged release tablets) and the problem has largely gone away I have also made changes to my diet to reduce calcium and stopped taking multi vitamin tablets that also contain calcium supplements
it is my understanding that a calcium heart scan measures build up of plaque not calcium.
That’s exactly what I did. He ordered a cardiac PET scan and an echocardiogram. No blockage and no stenosis. No follow up needed. Thanks for the suggestion.
