A few days ago it felt like someone was squeezing my heart. Has anyone had that happen before?

Yes, it was a heart attack that I luckily survived.

So for a definitive determination, as it is probably too late now to have this test being of any value, the next time this happens get a blood test to measure your troponin levels . A troponin test measures the levels troponin T or troponin I proteins in the blood. These proteins are released when the heart muscle has been damaged, such as occurs with a heart attack. The more damage there is to the heart, the greater the amount of troponin T and I there will be in the blood. You may also want to get your heart checked out anyway, just to remove any concerns. Most people don't get a warning and end up dead the first time they have a heart attack. Please get your heart checked out.
