Cardiac arrests

Hi, I'm new to this forum so I'll introduce myself. I'm now 61, 62 in a few weeks time, married with 3 grown up boys & one grandchild. I've had 3 cardiac arrests, all out of hospital, the first was in January 2012, #2 August 2013 & #3 in February 2014. Since then nothing except a recent bout of severe kidney stones which left me with septicaemia & 52 days in hospital, but that's another story.

All my attacks have come on very sudden with virtually no warning at all. If my wife had not been on hand for all 3 attacks I should have died during the first attack let alone survived all three. I seem to have reached a plateau now where I'm not getting any better but I'm not getting any worse . So it's not all bad.

I also had an ICD installed after my 2nd attack which kicked in during my 3rd attack which at least proves it works.

Wow that is a story. You are very lucky.

I'd like to hear how you deal with that situation. I've struggled after just 1 OHCA.

Did they ever identify what may have caused them?

You haven't mentioned if you had any risk factors.
