Had the first of my iron infusions yesterday (by the NHS in the UK)

Fingers crossed !🤞 Not sure how long it will take to see if/any improvement?

Bloods to be arranged 8 weeks after.

Excellent. Fingers crossed it helps. Some see results really quickly. Others see results in 6 to 8 weeks.

Which hospital out of interest, so I can add to 'enlightened haematology departments'.

Planned Investigation Unit, Neurosciences at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (after direction from Neurologist Dr Graham Mackay who consulted RLS BMJ Best Practice Guidelines)

Excellent! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 it will make a difference to your RLS.

Out of pure interest, do you know what you received? Kind of iron and what amount? Yesterday evening I listened to a webinar by dr William Ondo (US) and he mentioned that one larger amount seems to he more effective than several smaller amount in relatively short succession.

He also mentioned (“thought”, I think) that taking oral iron when your ferritin is 75 or higher was “no use”. But I tend to disagree, based on results posted in this forum. And personally I take a double dose iron bisglycinate 3x a week as a maintenance dose while my ferritin has been over 100.

It was 750mg of Ferric Carboxymaltose I believe.

I’ll get the same again in a week.

Unfortunately that is what is stated in the Mayo Algorithm and elsewhere but I agree that oral iron works at any ferritin level.

I saw improvements really quickly, I think it was 1 - 2, possibly 3 weeks out. But the improvements stuck around!

Good luck!

I've had them every year for about 7 years. It's taken about 6-8 weeks to feel the effect.
