Travelling to Spain

Gov.uk says:
"You must carry medicine containing a controlled drug with you in your hand luggage when entering or leaving the UK... You’ll need to prove it’s yours with either a prescription or letter from your doctor."
The either/or is a bit vague. With specific reference to entering Spain it says 'letter', so I'd take both just in case:
"You need a letter to prove your medicine is prescribed to you if it contains a ‘controlled drug’. You may need to show this at the border when you’re entering or leaving the UK and Spain. You may also need a licence for controlled drugs if:
your trip is longer than 3 months
you’re travelling with more than 3 months’ supply"
If you need a licence because of the above, contact the Embassy:
I live in Spain and neither Pregabalin nor Gabapentin are an issue here. In fact I have a year old prescription, not even valid anymore and I show it at the pharmacy and they give me a box of Gabapentin 300mg without checking when was the last time I asked for it.
I regularly travel to Spain and have never had a problem with taking meds. I’ve taken controlled drugs though many times. I only put what’s needed for the day in my hand luggage, the rest go in my suitcase.
I usually have a mix of meds all shoved in one box!
I am not long back with no problems but i always take a scrip with me just to be on the safe side.If you forget any there is no problem getting them.
I agree with the other posts that stated Gabapentin is no issue in Spain. If you are still worried, there is a specific EU 🇪🇺 document for proving your prescriptions are real. Here in Germany you have to get signatures of both your doc and the cities' health office on. It has translations on it and should be accepted in all of EU.
