Long story short, I've suffered with RLS for almost 20 years. Mirapex and Neupro helped a little. Methadone made it go away, but now I live in a country where none of the 3 is available.
After toying with the carnivore diet for a few months but cheating regularly, I decided to take it seriously. No more cheating. No more pork because it seems to give me asthma and allergies. Just beef, lamb, seafood, butter, Greek yogurt, and a little cheese. I drink only water and coffee. My RLS, which has been the plague of my existence, is gone. No idea if it's oxalates or pesticides or carbohydrates that are the problem. No idea if it will work for anyone else. But I feel amazing. Good luck, everyone. I hope you find your cure too.

I eliminated processed foods years ago. I was eating an organic Mediterranean diet. I'm definitely sensitive to all grains and nightshades. It seems plants in general don't agree with me.
I've been strict for a little over 90 days. I went carnivore for reasons unrelated to RLS. Avoiding carbs completely cured the depression and anxiety I've had for decades. It took about 6 weeks before I noticed that the twitching and "restless" part was gone from my legs but seemed to move to my arms, which was weird. But it gradually went away completely, leaving only aches in my legs. Now, everything is gone. I have literally fantasized about getting my legs amputated because I couldn't imagine living the rest of my life with RLS. And now I feel like I stumbled upon a miracle cure. I'd say it was between 60 and 70 days to complete remission.
I admit it was hard at first. I've always loved bread, pasta, pizza, even salads. But now that I've seen how much better I can feel, I don't even crave other foods 99% of the time. And it's not a religion. I'm going to have a little stuffing and pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. I'm sure I'll feel like shit afterward, like every time I've had carbs. But I look at it like having a few drinks and suffering through a hangover.
That’s interesting. My RLS has moved to my arms as well, particularly my wrists. I’m very intrigued by the carnivore diet. When I was much younger, I went on a very strict diet to fight candida. I have never felt as good as I did being sugar-free. I’m so glad this is working for you!
I can't recommend it highly enough. I had my Thanksgiving cheat day yesterday, and the RLS came back. I hope it doesn't take another 2 months to get rid of it again.
I tried the carnivore diet. I went two years and was very strict. No carbs at all. It did not help my RLS one bit, however I did lose 60 lbs. and went from being pre-diabetic to not being pre-diabetic. I'm glad it worked for you. I'm still looking for a solution.
That was a great side effect of the carnivore diet!
You say you are still looking for a solution. I see ropinirole on your profile. Are you taking it? Hopefully you are off it. What have you tried as I have suggestions?
I just started the carnivore diet a few months back but have been cheating pretty regularly so when I quit being stupid and do it right like you. congratulations and whoop whoop I am so happy for you.👍🏻
This site isn't a place to impose your ideology. It's to share knowledge and help others. It's hardly fair of you to come on here attacking people because they don't share your particular ideology.
I tried going vegan and my health suffered significantly. My physical and mental health suffer when I even include any plant products in my diet. Going carnivore has made me feel better, stronger, and happier than I've been in over 20 years. We are a part of nature, not separate from it.
