I have been on and off the medicine, fluxotine over the years and RLS is a major side effect. I am carrying on taking my magnesium tablets before bed. But don’t know if the fluxotine is just counteracting it? Does anyone else have this problem?

Fluoxetine = severe RLS!
A number of medications can make RLS worse and Prozac (Fluoxetine) is listed as one of the medications to avoid. rls-uk.org/treatment/
SSRIs are definitely contra-indicated. No no no.
But because many of us get depressed and fundamentally fatigued as a result of this disease, we get misdiagnosed and given the wrong meds.
A post/paper somewhere on rls.org said something like this - 'patients with RLS/WED consult about 3.4 clinicians and are prescribed 6.2 anti-depressants before they get a proper diagnosis'. That is from the top.
That is pretty much what happened to me. Time, life and money down the toilet. And one of the anti-depressants, Cymbalta, is very dangerous indeed.
Ignorance is all around, so help your doctor to help you. She was not trained in this, very likely.
Hi Lou lou,
Wellbutrin and trazodone are anti depressants that don’t cause or make RLS worse.
Try to switch to one of those.
Good luck
Jools
Thank you everyone
