Hi after reading the article from the Journal of Sleep Medicine I see that Cabergoline is strongly recommended. However it seems to be listed as a Dopamine Agonist which obviously is a no no .Could anyone explain this to me please?
Thankyou

It also said there was a significant risk of augmentation and the harms outweighed the benefits.
Pipps, how did it go with the fentanyl?
The Wording is that the AASM recommends AGAINST the use of cabergoline.
It is a confusing paper to read as it recommends FOR or AGAINST and then states whether the recommendation is strong or moderate.
But ALL dopaminergic drugs are effectively on the scrap heap. Thankfully.
Thanks Jools I didn't read it properly thought it was a strange recommendation @
Sadly not at my surgery. Only a few weeks back I was speaking to someone with rls. She was so excited to have found the 'cure'. Yep, you've guessed it.....Pramipexole.
Gawd.Yet another poor soul condemned to years of suffering down the line. In a few years when she's climbing the walls, her doctors will say they've never seen such a severe case of RLS!Bet the GP didn't mention inevitable augmentation or high rates of ICD.
She might have responded brilliantly to an iron infusion or iron pills.
It makes you wonder if GPs get paid to prescribe this poison.
Cabergoline was my first Da that Dr Chaudhuri put me on 26 yrs ago but of course I augmented ! What a surprise !
