RLS GUT PROBLEMS

I post fairly often on this forumMy name is William Henry

I had a Zoom Session with RLS-UK just over a week ago There were 5 women in the session plus myself

All of the women have had RLS for a long time just like myself

All of the women have been diagnosed with RLS and I have not been diagnosed

I will be contacting a Consultant in Harley Street who will give me a private Consultation

I have watched a Video on YouTube about gut problems by "The Neurologic Wellness Institute"

The presenter says there is a three-fold increase in Restless Legs Increase when someone has Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) This is associated with Stool problems which I have had for well over a year and I have cramps fairly regularly

I have all these conditions and I am badly affected when it is very humid

I am sitting in my lounge writing this message

My RLS is awful at present and has been awful for the last few weeks I get about two hours or less sleep a night

My current observations

Lots of sympathy with fellow suffers of RLS

Kind regards

William Henry

The gut microbiome comes up a lot for RLS.

Check my past replies (go to my profile page), I wrote a lot regarding the connection of the gut and RLS.

You might consider that you have Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and treat it using the herbal protocol on this website...

siboinfo.com/

Then, supplement with fiber and the probiotic LP299v

Do check your iron status especially Ferritin levels. Don't rely on doctors interpretation that it's OK. Mine was 49 - docs said it was fine - raging RLS! Very controlled with ferrous bisglycinate chelate (non-constipating).

I've had RLS for decades, it worsened quite a bit when I started having IBS symptoms about 3 years ago. I've been using a low dose of Kratom at night and that seems to have helped both issues quite a bit.

Hi William, I'm writing this from bed ahead of a long night of pacing the floors as per usual. I only recently started to get interested in the link between the microbiome and rls. I knew that antidepressants exacerbate rls and also antihistamines and anti nausea drugs. Other drugs which make rls worse are PPIs and statins. The one thing that all these drugs have in common is that they affect the gut and dopamine agonists inhibt gut motility causing symptoms of SIBO. Anyone who's been on DAs know that eventually they make rls more severe. I would love to know more about the link between the microbiome and rls. There is a strong link between disbiosis and Parkinson's disease too. All just interesting observations and a bit of a chicken and egg conundrum! Good luck in your endeavours 😴
