dopamine reuptake inhibitor

I am currently still taking mirapex (pramipexole) but am planning on weaning off soon from the overwhelming advice on this forum. Here is my question, pramipexole is a dopamine agonist and my doctor has prescribed wellbutrin which is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor. I haven't started taking the wellbutrin yet, I thought would be best if run this question by the very knowledgable here first. Somehow taking both seems risky to me somehow.

Wellbutrin is fine. It is safe for RLS. Taking it with a DA is fine.

Why has he prescribed it? Are you suffering depression or anxiety? That's what it is usually prescribed for, as all other anti depressants trigger or worsen RLS.

Are you still on 1mg Pramipexole?

I don't feel anxoius or depressed at all. Right out of the blue the doctor says he is going to put me on wellbutrin. What's the easiest way out of taking a med you don't feel like you need without offending the doctor?

Yes, I'm still currently on one mg daily of pramipexole. When I mentioned to my doctor that pram was not the best route, he asked if it was working and I replied yes so he said well, stay on it then, end of conversation with him.

But it isn't working is it? I thought you had breakthrough RLS earlier in the day?At 1mg, augmentation is inevitable. Have you experienced any Impulse Control Disorder symptoms? Overspending, overeating, gambling, hypersexuality? Very common on high doses of Prami.

Ask your doctor WHY he's prescribed wellbutrin.

You shouldn't be taking meds you don't need. If he insists, you can politely decline.

I never knew about Impulse Control Disorder symptoms with prami. My wife googled a slightly more detailed list and I had most of the symptoms. Now I really need to light a fire around my switch away from prami. Thanks for the info!!

If you have symptoms of ICD, please1. Report via FDA side effects on their website as it helps patients and doctors realise the scale of the problem.

2. See a lawyer. If your doctor did not warn you about these common side effects, you should sue. Especially as your dose is above FDA limit.

There have been hundreds of successful legal cases in USA and here in the UK. It will stop doctors prescribing these dangerous drugs.

I recommended Dr Joseph "Andy" Berkowski to you before. You definitely need to see him or do teleconference with him. Your doctor is not helping you.

I wasn't sure I had any side effects from long term use of pramipexole until I read one side effect was compulsive buying, I sit in front of my computer evenings and love to just purchase less than needed items. I think the real smoking gun is the fact that I bought one chainsaw, then another slightly different model, long story short, I now own 29 saws and don' heat with wood or use a fireplace! Been on prami for 14 years.
