Dear all.

I’ve not been on here for a while now because my RLS was managed by nightly use of magnesium tablets along with magnesium oil spray and/ or lotion.

However, I feel like I really need to share this because it made such a big difference to my symptoms- I know all too well the misery of RLS.

I developed an ingrown toenail and small inflection set in . I called my GP to get prescription for an antibiotic cream, but they could not see me for over two weeks!

As luck had it, I met a family member for lunch and we had general conversation, during which I mentioned my troubled toe. He advised me to use Colodial Silver spray to heal it, which I did.

Would you believe it, it also helped with my RLS!! It took few evenings to realise that it was the CS that helped so much.

What I would do is, spray both feet, wait for them to dry out and apply second dose. I would get in my bed, lay on my back and observe what happens; my RLS is the worse when I lay on my back as I always have to stretch my legs to the point of almost pain to relieve the symptoms.

What I observed was that my feet would start to ‘fizz up’ but then this sensation would stop and did not progress beyond that!

I gave it good two weeks trail to see whether it was the CS, with two nights off, just to compare. On the two nights off, I did notice an increase in my symptoms.

Anyway, I thought this is just too remarkable to not share with other sufferers. Of course, it could be an anomaly, who knows.

I intend to continue to use it and my toe infection cleared up as well. 😊

Infections cause inflammation and inflammation makes RLS worse. As your toe heals inflammation goes down and your RLS symptoms also go down. I suspect there is also a reverse placebo effect there too on your days off.

Thank you for your reply Sue, makes sense

Would that apply to both legs? I’m asking because symptoms went in both.

This has been widely used in alternative medicine, and perhaps short term it has helped to treat the inflammation and therefore helped your RLS.

However colloidal silver is also marketed as a dietary supplement and numerous bodies - including the US FDA, the Cleveland Clinic, the Mayo Clinic - have warned against taking it by mouth. I know that you're not taking it orally, but there are also concerns that prolonged rather than short term topical use may also cause issues.

I appreciate that 'evidence-based medicine' is often cautious or condemnatory of some traditional treatments, but I think that it's best to at least be aware of concerns in this instance.
