Hello again, I posted recently about my Mum who has early dementia and lifelong RLS now augmented after about 12y of ropinerole. We are trying to get her an appointment with Prof W but earliest is late Sept. So in the meantime I want to get her to try Mg, B complex and gentle iron (9mth ago Ferritin was 83)
I have recently been able to drop my mid afternoon rop dose on this regimen so am hopeful it might have benefits for her.
The question is, for a person with profound memory issues and her ever attentive husband who doesn’t always remember (!) what would be an ok schedule?
Can she swallow the soluble B multi and all Mg at breakfast or should it spread out through the day? (I am aware of the Mg by day/Fe by night maxim).
How much Mg glycinate/triple combo? It says x2 per day on the packet (for a dose of about 400 elemental Mg).
Thanks in advance.

Magnesium doesn't help everyone and studies have not shown any benefit, but there are so many anecdotal reports, that it is worth trying.Magnesium helps sleep, so it can be taken at night as well. But if your Mum is taking ferrous bisglycinate just before bed, it's probably best to take earlier in the day.
There is no recommended level of Magnesium for RLS, so just take the recommended dose on the packet.
Buy a pill box from Amazon and you can do the weekly pills and your dad can then administer.
I have been off all medication for close to a month. I am taking the supplements recommended with a few added. I have cut out all alcohol fizzy drinks sugar and carbohydrates. Still wake up during the night with RL but very mild. I make a cuppa coffee rub my legs a little get back into bed and have found lying on my left side definitely helps. I am patient and realise that I cannot expect to have no RL as my brain has to reset especially with me being on Pexola for many years.
Hi SurvivorD, I'm so glad to hear you've experienced such positive changes! This reminds me of what some others have referenced in terms of reducing inflammation, and also of the recommendations on the rlcure.org site. It sounds as though you're pretty much on a ketogenic diet, is that right? Or do you just mean lower carbs? Also, would you mind sharing what other supplements you've added, in addition to the ones on this list? Many thanks!
