I tried Ramelteon last night as a new potential remedy for RLS and although it is associated with melatonin, it seemed to work pretty good. I am waiting to see if it will be consistently good for me. I have been so discouraged by various medications that just seem to make my problem worse. Marsha

Yes it mimics melatonin although is not melatonin so should help with sleep. I have not heard of it helping with RLS though, but glad it is working for you.
Thanks for sharing. Let us know if the good results continue.
I had not heard of Ramelteon before, so I just looked it up and came across the following warning:
"you should know that some people who took ramelteon got out of bed and drove their cars, prepared and ate food, had sex, made phone calls, or were involved in other activities while partially asleep. After they woke up, these people were usually unable to remember what they had done. Call your doctor right away if you find out that you have been driving or doing anything else unusual while you were sleeping."
Well, I felt good after waking up after taking Ramelteon. However, I was so sick all day with nausea. I had what I think is an allergic reaction to it. I was so sick all day. My sleep specialist told me to take another half dose, but I could not because of the reaction. I will have to put one more medication to rest...Ramelteon is not for me. Thanks for all your responses.
It sounds like a drug called Ambein, which has the same side effect. I used to take it, but one night I got up and cooked Spaghetti and did not remember it. It can put you in danger of driving under the influence. I would proceed with caution!
