From oxy to buprenorphine

I had my iron levels tested and all is good, not a candidate for infusion.

Dr. Buchfuhrer suggested I switch from oxycodone to buprenorphine and tonight I did.

Was nervous to go off of Oxy as it worked, but I noticed it was wearing off earlier and earlier. At 5 mg three times a day, I didn’t want to go up in dosage. Dr. B. said the buprenorphine will last longer and that that was a good reason to switch..

so far so good. RLS and neuropathy were kicking in tonight and the med knocked them out!

Good news. For me and several others the buprenorphine works well without dose increase already for about 3 years. My only problem is fatigue/lethargy.

that’s great to hear. We’ll see if I’ll be able to cook Thanksgiving dinner and I guess that’ll be the real test lol.

I too have both rls and neuropathy (not diabetic). Have to wonder if there’s a connection. Also have rheumatoid arthritis and there’s some evidence of a link with neuropathy. In my case happened simultaneously.

I asked my doctor about it and he said it was a condition of aging 🤷‍♀️

That’s great news. Can I ask how much you take and how often? I am thinking of making a similar change. Thanks

Well I think the Dr said to cut the tab in fourths, but I’ve been cutting in half which is 1 mg… and I think I’m taking too much?
