I had a follow up appt with my Dr yesterday. Told her I am down from 10 mg ropinorole to 3 mg with the help of 25 mg tramadol when needed. She thought that was great but does not want me to use tramadol. She said it causes Rls. She gave me gabapentin 300 mg. to try instead of Tramadol. I asked about my ferritin levels. She said my recent testing showed my iron was fine so there is no reason to think my ferritin is low. She said she would have it checked if I wanted but was sure it would be fine. I decided to wait until I get off ropinorole to have it checked. I will continue with tramadol as needed.

Tramadol does not cause RLS.
I wouldn't wait to have your ferritin checked. If low, improving it will help your withdrawal from ropinirole. Just because your iron was fine does not mean your ferritin is high enough.
Gabapentin won't help until you are off ropinirole for several weeks.
I thought she was wrong but I didn’t argue. I figured if it helps me get through the last 3 mg of ropinorole I will continue using it. I have my doubts about gabapentin but I have the prescription if I need it. Thanks again Sue. It helps to have people to talk to who understand. Unless you’ve been through you just don’t get it.
Tramadol does not cause RLS but it's the only opioid that can cause augmentation. That may be what your doctor was referring to? I was on Tramadol for many years and never noticed it causing problems but some have. it certainly helped me so as long as you're aware of the danger, then go for it.
I agree with SueJohnson. Also, 300mg gabapentin won't help. It's too low and doesn't work until after you're off Ropinirole.
see my recent post about gabapentin and LDN. I'm in 100 mg of GABA and no sumptome
Didn't work for me
