I told everyone my mom got the blood transfusion but it only lasted 2 weeks. She is back with going crazy at nights walking, banging, crying and lossing it again. Told her to stop taking the duxet. We will see what happens. Im seriously thinking aboit going to turkey. Her next app with hemotologist isnt tik the 15th. Why is this rls so severe. She keeps begging to god to make it go away. After talking for 3 hrs she finally fell asleep talking to me on the couch. Half her body on the couch and the other half on the floor.

If your mother is still on dopamine agonists ( levodopa) her RLS will still be severe. The drug is the reason.

Duloxetine will make it worse, but the cause is the dopamine agonists.

Iron transfusions don't 'cure' augmentation.

As previously advised, your mother has to very slowly reduce dopaminergic drugs, with the help of a low dose opioid.

Look at Dr Andy Berkowski's RLS webcasts on YouTube and they explain why your mother is suffering so much.

Clearly her doctors know nothing about RLS.

My name is Don, I had RLS so severe , in it’s worst, 6 days no sleep, no sit, no lean on anything. All I could do was walk for every minute of every second of six days. Yelling and screaming , nothing was stopping it. Legs so sore from walking, no doctor listening, telling me try this or that and I will see you in a month. 6 days was the worst but multiple 5 day , 20 or so 4 days, can’t tell you how many 3 days. It attacked my body every 8 seconds of my life.

Ok I read an article about Seratame , all natural, 4.5 stars. It said it was working on the cause of RLS, not a band-are. First day I used it , it helped a little, then back to the same agony. I stayed with two pills a day, on tablet of b6, one tablet of magnesium citrate, 15 days later it was almost gone, 2 months in hardly have a trace. It’s about 36.00 a bottle. The company is called Seratame, pure biochemical out of Carlsbad California. There phone # is 877 269 2694. My # is 530 318 7788 Don

I am glad taking the Seratame helped you so much. That must be a huge relief. Most likely you had a deficiency of one of the ingredients. It may he more difficult to find out now, but if you do you may be able to end up with a much cheaper solution for you deficiency and RLS

Seratame contains: Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2, Vitamin B6, Magnesium (Malate), Curcumin, Passionflower, Lactobacillus acidophilus. Most ingredients are present in quite small quantities for a supplement (not all quantities are listed).

Except for the Lactobacillus, I have in the past taken (separately or at the same time) Vit D3+K2, Vitamin B6, Magnesium and Curcumin without any effect on RLS. Magnesium is often mentioned here and on other fora and tried with fair results. D3 can also be effective especially if you have a deficiency (most people over 50 need to take it in winter). Curcumin currently gets a lot of attention for its anti-inflammatory ability.

I thank you, had a neroligest the specifically treated RLS. Had seen 4 others when I came into his office. He started out by telling me he knew what I was going through. I had a chip on my shoulder when I went in because the lack of knowledge in this field. I had just come off a 3 day no sleep walking the whole time and I responded to him the hell you do. Unless you have this hidious disease you have no explicative, clue.,

Yeah, I hear you. At least here on this HU forum, we know. And we understand. That helps. A lot.

It actually says it contains Lactobacillus Plantarum, which according to this study, helps with iron absorption. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/264...

Interesting.

The Seratme suplement is only a small part of eliminating RLS, the most important thing is to redue your systemic imflammation from food by changing your diet.

You can Google lists of foods that cause inflammation and you'll find that topmost foods that cause inflammation are high carb processed foods, partly because the carbs are high and refined so that they are metabolised quickly and partly because they contain artifficial preservatives which affect the nerves.

I have been taking the suggested supplements for 4 weeks. I did include VitB12 and Folate. I was going through withdrawal of Pexola and it was living hell!! I took my last tablet on Sunday and so.far no RL!! The Seratame tablets are very similar. I read the comments and reviews and they were very positive!! It's like getting a new life after 18 years of suffering!!!

The Seratame website is spot-on with explanations and research sources. Pretty good endorsement from Classof69 above. I think you can try it - WTH, $39.95 - I would have paid $1039.95 to ease my RLS! But, you can up the ingredients with individual supplementation - especially the probiotic (only 1b units in Seratame, but 10b units in Jarrow supplements). Also the B6 component could be upgraded with the P5P version of B6. Curious that they do not include any iron supplement in the formula. My RLS - as severe as you can get - was stopped in it's tracks with ferrous bisglycinate chelate supplements.

only treatment for augmentation is weaning of dopamine Agonists whilst taking an opioid eg buprenorphine is my first choice.
