An interesting study on RLS/PLMD in premature babies. Low iron is identified as the cause.

We know RLS in children is often misdiagnosed as ADHD.

It's important to check iron levels in all children with sleep disturbances.

I just hope that parents of premature babies take note. If the mum takes iron supplements and breastfeeds, the babies get the help they need. One day, Madlegs, one day.

We will wear the T shirts.

That's very interesting thanks Jools. I was born a month premature and have bad PLMD and RLS, yet my identical twin doesn't appear to have either.Nor does any other of my numerous siblings.

Re your point on children with RLS being misdiagnosed with ADHD, there's also a fairly strong correlation between the two conditions.

interestingly I have been diagnosed with ADHD and severe RLS that I have had since I was little. I was told that ADHD is strongly related to a dopamine deficiency, which would make sense with the low dopamine link with RLS. I wish they would do more to research this horrendous condition

Absolutely. If RLS received as much research funding as MS or Parkinson's, we'd have a much better knowledge of what causes it & we'd have new treatments. But we need everyone with RLS to join together.

Interesting! I was a preemie and had RLS occasionally as a kid (I called it "jumpy legs").
