I occasionally have to take hydroxyzine hydrochloride a prescription strength antihistamine for intersistial cystitis (non bacterial but inflammatory) when I’m in a flare
I had a colonoscopy last week as a scan showed some inflammation and thickening in my descending colon they ended up removing several polyps however the bowel cleansing stuff I took has aggravated my bladder to the point im in agony and I’m going to have to take my hydroxyzine but wondered if this will massively exacerbate my already out of control restless legs
By way of an update I’m taking Topamax and Diazepam at night now for the constant muscle twitching I also have on top of the restless legs that’s still being investigated by neurology and rheumatology and I’m actually sleeping again which is good news
thanks so much to anyone who responds I think you all are flipping fabulous in this community
Xx

Sadly it's a bad one for RLS.Have you tried mirabegrin or solifenacin for the interstitial cystitis?
I have found pregabalin also helps calms down my MS bladder spasms and also buscopan, which is an IBS med. Anecdotal reports show it can help spasms in the bladder, as well as the bowel.
And, my trusty stalwart, medical cannabis can help as well.
Going to go and get buscopan from boots tomorrow as can easily get that and try to talk to gp about a different medication I’m back to see rheumatologist next week
I ended up taking a hydroxyzine as was in so much pain earlier and restless legs symptoms in my arms are crazy bad my arms feel like I’ve got bubbles exploding in them so absolutely it’s not a great med
It’s so unfortunate as it’s always worked so well to calm down my aggravated bladder 😬
I can imagine! My neuro-urologist is pretty good and makes lots of suggestions to help bladder spasms and listens when I tell him what has helped.Try a non sedating anti histamine like loratedine or cetirizine as well.
