meloxicam?

Hello I’ve been prescribed meloxicam to help with pain in my feet and ankles which is rendering me virtually disabled - I am wondering if this drug is known to affect restless legs ( mine are still severe despite being on buprenorphine and pregabalin…)

I have also been prescribed omeprazole to help with stomach issues that this drug might cause… I know this often increases RLS so wondered if there are any known alternatives that are RLS friendly.

I am going to try the meloxicam on its own first before adding the omeprazole so that I know what is affecting what!

Any advice would be gratefully received - the pain from my osteoarthritis is stopping me walking far or exercising so if this drug did help it would positively affect me on many levels - thanks

The meloxicam should be fine.

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. RLS-UK says most proton pump Inhibitors worsen RLS and several people on the forum have said it made their RLS worse. I would suggest gaviscon advance instead.

I know that PPIs are supposed to make RLS worse. But I have found that pantoprozole (also a PPI - a heavy duty one) doesn't bother mine. It's not good to take any PPI for extended periods. But I keep having to take a two week course of it because my buprenorphine-caused constipation seems to aggravate my GERD symptoms. So I've been in a two weeks on, two weeks off pattern for a few months.
