I searched on here to see if others already commented on soap helping with RLS. I couldn't find any so I'll share here. If I'm repeating, I apologize. Physicians Pharmacy has a wonderful article regarding the mysterious and wonderful power of bar soap by your legs while sleeping....(or soap chips in your socks or pockets, etc. while traveling). You can find the article here. I have currently been using a bar of Irish Spring and IT IS WORKING!!! I truly hope others are able to alleviate symptoms as well.

Soap can be helpful for RLS
If you type the word SOAP in the search box and select My Communities you will find 14 postings on Soap on the first page . The consensus of opinion is it does not work for RLS but if you find it does for you that is great. You can always use the soap later if it no longer gets rid of your RL so nothing lost.
The soap is for cramps in the calf muscles. I've been using soap for years for cramps and it works.
Plus you can shower with it. A zero complication option that I am happy people trying.
The soap- under-the-sheet remedy has been around for years. I tried it several years ago and it definitely did NOT work for me. If it works for you that's great, but I wonder if RLS is what you really have.
crazy as it sounds, this was a popular remedy years ago. I tried it at the time and it worked back then, but back then my RLS was intermittent. May be worth a try now as I attempt to move from Ropinirole to Gabapentin. Getting off Ropinirole is not fun.
I try to have an open mind and seeing as soap in the bed is not difficult to do I gave it a go over 3 nights. The first was pretty good, up only twice compared to 3 or 4 normally. Next night was similar but not quite as good, 3rd night back to normal, pretty restless and twitchy and up 4 times so at that point I stopped and kicked the soap out. The following 3 nights were even better including last night which where I woke just once so while it's a limited time period I feel it's not an answer, certainly not immediate.
I put my improved sleep down to a lack of strenuous exercise - at the moment my back and nerves are playing up so I'm taking it relatively easy and just keeping to around 10k steps a day at a moderate pace while continuing to try reduce weight and calorie and carb intake and it's this that is helping in my view. Unfortunately not exercising isn't a long term answer if I want to stay healthy and fit through my 60's and 70's so I suspect I'll have to go back to living with some of the effects.
But soap .. not for me.
