I was given xanax by doctor 0.5 every 4 hours after a traumatic event i started 12/16/23 and stopped yesterday 1/10/23

she gave me Klonipan twice to three times a day and 10mg Lexapro daily.

I am having the worst withdrawl symptoms !!! it's bad and i don't know what to do she said the Klonipan would help me because its longer acting but it only worked for 4 hrs

I'm sorry to hear this. I don't know anything about benzodiazepene withdrawal, but this article might point you in the right direction to get help.

Go back up on the dose you were on then wean off it very slowly. And Lexapro makes RLS worse so you need to wean off it too.

Then you are lucky and can can stay on lexapro. Why is your doctor taking you off Xanax? Klonopin has a long half life on 40 hours so if you have only taken it for 1 day, the effect will become cumulative over a couple days so might work better. I take 2 mg of Lunesta and it comes in a 3 mg dose and I find it works great for sleep.

Took me off Xanax because it wasn’t helping my anxiety anymore and I was becoming depended on it. None of the issue has anything to do with my RLS

I just had to reach out to someone

it is my understanding that to detox from those type of drugs it needs to be done in a medical setting due to possibility of seizures. I’d talk to my doctor and ask about a medically supervised detoxification process.

That's not true unless the person is susceptible to seizures. Certainly under a doctor's advice. I reduced my Klonopin that way .

My cousin never had seizures in her life. When she tried cutting back on Xanax on her own she had full blown seizures. She had to go into inpatient detox. I guess it depends on person.

You may already have done this but it would be prudent to get into a therapist asap. Not only can they help you navigate your recent trauma but they can also teach you emotional regulation coping techniques to use when the anxiety and panic are really bad.
