New Year Wishes - Thank you so much Debbie

When I received the new year wishes email from Debbie Abram’s OBE, UK membership, it made me reflect and shed a tear - but in a good way. I found her words encouraging and uplifting, particularly as my RLS is worsening. The message was to all so I’m sure it is ok to copy it here as it may help someone else:

‘We hope you have had a joyful holiday season and as we approach the final hours of 2023 we reflect with gratitude what we have achieved together during the year and resolve to do even more in 2024. We made some progress but there is much more we can do.

Together we must dispel the myth that Restless Legs Syndrome is not a serious illness. We know how serious it is for us and how it adversely affects all our lives and just what a battle it can be to get effective treatment to manage our symptoms. Thank you for helping us increase awareness about how RLS touches all aspects of our lives as we continue to campaign for:

Further research to find the exact cause of RLS

Further research to develop effective treatments for symptom management

Education of GPs to improve assessment and diagnosis of RLS.

Wishing you and all those who are special to you all the very best for the New Year.’

Happy New Year everyone, I hope we all manage to find some form of peace while coping with RLS in the year ahead x

Debbie and the other RLS-UK volunteer trustees do so much for all of us, wherever we are, and deserve our thanks!

Thanks also to soundofmetal for being a member of RLS-UK and therefore supporting the work of the charity: Debbie's last newsletter reminded me to renew my own membership!
