rls getting bad
I have already given you lots of advice including getting your ferritin checked and what medicine to ask for. You just need to follow it.
Sounds like triggers if it is on and off.
What does your intake diary tell you?
What medications are you one?
Many of us here have at times been where you are now, having to spend some or all of the night on a spare bed or sofa. Sue's clearly given you some very extensive advice before, but I'll just summarise some key points:
1. Arrange a full panel iron blood test with your doctor, which must include serum ferritin and transferrin saturation. This should be arranged for a morning, you should have fasted for 8-12 hours overnight (only water in that time), and you shouldn't take any iron supplements or multi vitamins containing iron for 48 hours before. Post back here with the actual numbers - don't let your doctor just tell you 'normal' as very few doctors know anything about RLS.
2. Many prescription and over-the-counter medicines can trigger RLS: post back with a COMPLETE list of anything at all that you're taking. That's everything, including things like cough medicines, cold remedies etc.
3. What you eat and when may contribute to RLS. Particular problems can include too much sugary food, too much caffeine, diet food and drink containing artificial sweeteners, in some cases alcohol, etc, particularly consumed in the evening. Not everyone has dietary triggers, but these are quite common.
4. You are not alone, we can help, but please don't take ANY prescribed medications for RLS before coming back here with answers to the points above.
I sleep on the settee often as my legs are awful so painful , I am 87 now and I think that’s it , lots of people havnt heard of r l s , good luck to you
Hi Car14, I have just been prescribed Pramipexole been on it for 2 months and my RLS has stopped but you have to get your bloods done first to see if you have any deficiency, talk to your doctor and start the ball rolling the sooner you do the better, good luck 😉👍👍👍
Hi - I'm sure you are aware that Pramipexole is no longer a first line treatment. Somewhere down the road you will suffer augmentation. And it could be years from now, but for many the savior becomes the devil.
