Diuretics experience?

Sue says diuretics are no-no's. Dr. B says didn't say they were a problem, that all bp meds are okay. I had a terrible time on hydrochlorothiazide--but it worked right away on my high bp. Anyone have an okay time on any diuretic?

Everyone has different experiences with different medications.

We have some generalisations, such as statins, antihistamines, antidepressants and so on.

However,it's very much an experiment for each individual,to see what works for us or what doesn't.

We can only relay what we have discovered by self experience and research, including contributions on this site.

Good luck .💚

I take a small dose of one……spiractin, hasn’t made me any worse.

As much as we all hate rls , better than having a stroke.

Good luck

not sure of difference between PLMD and RLS.

My arms are also affected sometimes?

PLMD is when the legs or arms move by themselves and is usually although not always at night.

Diuretics are an outated treatment for hypertension, their use is based on the misnoma that salt is responsible for elevated BP.

Hydrochlorothiazide sure did work for me. I wish I could tolerate it. So what is the new theory of high bp? I think mine is caused by genetics, age, and stress related to insomnia, legs, and medicine intolerances.

If you think your hypertension is stress related you might like to try the herbal remedy Ashwaganda which can regulate cortisol, and for the insomnia the natural amino acid L-serine, about half an hour before bedtime.

I don’t think you can generalise so. I have high BP and take numerous meds and also mild diuretic because my body has trouble eliminating fluid. I also have to try to watch liquids consumed. Puffy legs have since subsided as a result
