Hi everyone, I have been blessed to be totally free of RLS using my current meds for over 9 months now ,not so much as a twinge .However last night my RLS was horrendous up and down pacing for hours (we all know the drill).I couldn't think of any reason for it but around 4 o'clock it came to me I had used Antihistamines cream for a couple of insect bites .I know to avoid sedating Antihistamines tablets but had considered the cream as not taken orally to be safe .On looking up the active ingredient it is a first generation sedating Antihistamine.
Just a warning to other RLS sufferers to be as careful with creams /sprays etc as you would be with oral medications.
Pipps x
PS the cream is called Anthisan and I bought it OTC

Hi! Just wanted to say that I am on Oxycodone (Tramadol) and it is also "mostly" sorting out my RLS. A bit bothersome sometimes at night, but compared to what it used to be like .... Thank goodness someone found that opioids work for this horrible condition. Great to hear from you. x
Sorry to read that Pipps. But the good thing is that your meds have been working so well. But the RLS will nit let us forget that it is still there. I so wish there was more scientific interest in the (brain) iron homeostasis (mechanisms to keep a sufficient amount of iron in our bodies/brains. And especially the search for what makes that we with RLS don't seem to have enough iron in our brains.
Meanwhile, I hope everything return to 'normal' for you today and the following days. Lesson learned! Thanks for posting.
