CARBIDOPA 25/LEVODOPA 100MG TAB For RLS

I know this drug was talked about in relation to Parkinson's. My doctor has prescribed it for my RLS when I travel in an airplane. I am only to take no more than 3 tablets per week. Has anyone used this for traveling? Any help? Side effects? Comments, please.

Yes that is fine. It will definitely help when you fly and that small amount won't be a problem if you just use it while flying and not at your destination.

Is there long term effects using CARBIDOPA 25/LEVODOPA 100MG ? My doctor has me taking one tablet one hour before bedtime. Seems to help , only been using two weeks.

Up to 70% of people will eventually suffer augmentation according to the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS which believe me you don't want because it can be hell to come off it and the longer you are on it, the harder it will be to come off it and the more likely your dopamine receptors will be damaged so that the now first line treatment for RLS gabapentin or pregabalin won't work. Check out the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS which discusses augmentation and the latest guidelines on RLS treatment.Https://mayoclinicproceedings.org/a...

That was for cessna122. You won't have that problem using it just for flying

Yes - it is used on a 'one off basis' to calm RLS for long journeys. I certainly wouldn't take it 3 times a week though! Use it solely for long journeys.

Thank you, doctor said no more than 3 times a week only if needed.

Carbidopa/levodopa has the highest rate of augmentation of all dopaminergic drugs, so I would not consider taking more than once or twice a month. Any more than that, and your D1 dopamine receptors will become hyper excited and start to worsen your RLS. For a long plane journey now and again it's okay. But any more than that and the risk of augmentation is increased. Augmentation is horrendous. Do NOT take this regularly.

Hi,I take it and like it very much. I travel back and forth to Cairo Egypt to the states and I depend on it. I take one before getting on the plane, keep it with me and take another half if I feel my " stupid legs' coming on during the flight. It does make me sleep, which is a good thing on a long flight. I notice it works better on an emptier stomach.

I hope this helps you!

Also I take it nightly for about 13 years. Usually one and maybe a half part way thru the night.
