After pregabalin and gabapentin both made me nervous (I successfully tolerated the pregabalin for years, with daytime sedation however). Codeine also seems to be waking me up instead of sedating me. Doctor is suggesting trying Horizant. I know it is for people who experience symptoms all day, but I am thinking of trying it. At the moment, daytime sedation looks more desirable than being up all night. Dr. B gave me a lot of Horizant samples 5 years ago, so of course they have expired. If I tried them, while I wouldn't know if they were effective because of the expiration date, I am wondering if it might be harmful in some way?

Can your doctor give you some new samples? If not they are probably safe to take per this site health.harvard.edu/staying-.... Horizant is very expensive and most insurances don't cover it. However Horizant has a prescription savings card which makes it inexpensive which you might want to check out at horizant.com/savings . Also, they might be willing to send you some samples.
They don't give out sample anymore, I don't think.
I’ve been on Horizant 600mg for the past year plus I’m also taking gabapentin 600mg.
Unfortunately, these drugs are not helpful for me. Horizant is worth trying though and is probably safer compared to pregabalin. Was not sedated at all with the Horizant and gabapentin. I also take Tramadol 50mg and that is the most helpful of the cocktail. You may wish to switch from codeine to Tramadol
Good luck !!
